Mike, somewhere on this site is a thread like this and I remember someone posted a picture with a cinny and a black pastel side by side. I'll try to dig it up but I'm notoriously bad at finding old threads.

Black Pastels are darker overall, tend to have less blushing than a Cinny, generally have a bolder pattern, and make better crosses, so the bottom line is...Black Pastels are way cooler than Cinnys.

Check out NERD's site. They have some supreme-o Black Pastels and supreme-o Cinnys and the difference between the two are very distinguishable.....

Personally I like cinny's and the crosses they make better. I am not a huge fan of the black pastel now that I have seen the difference between a black pastel pewter and a cinny pastel pewter.

Feel free to check out what ever website you want and make your own decision on which you like better.

I generally favor the cinnies, too. However, Gary Liesen posted some gorgeous black pastels on KS, they are from his WC sire. I must admit I really like them, but the price is a bit high for my taste.

Im A black pastel person. If you ever see a Black Platty( BlackxLesser) and then look at a CinnaPlatty( CinnyxLesser) you will see a HUGE difference.

As far As pewters go, it REALLY depends on the pastel as well. Ive seen the good and the ugly on both sides:cool:

well, I just got my first cinny tonight, and he is also the first one that I have seen in person. His unbeliveable light brown head, with almost completely faded out stripe, and black as the night eyes... He has without a doubt the most beautiful face I have ever seen on a snake. I am in love! If you haven't seen one of these things in person, you won't truely understand what I am talking about until you do.

I will try to get a good pic once he has had a week to settle in.... it is going to be near impossible I think though to get the camera to capture the real life color of his head.

I cant recal a super black pastel...I duno if they look the same as super cinnies....but ya, many super cinnies are born with the infamous duckbill...but not all...just like the wobbles in 'some spiders'...and how 'some' caramels come with kinks...'some' super cinnies have more of a duckbill snout...

    np with the links:)

Really with both, just get what you like. There is a small price difference and they both look great. If you see a great looking cinny, buy it! Same with the black pastel. Id also take a look at the combos, because both can turn out differently( but look at more than one of the same combo, some are much nicer than others)

I LOVE black back cinnys, as well as busy patterned Black pastels and because they are darker. If I didn't like the Black Patty so much I might have gotten a cinny instead of a Black:weirdface

I like both and am breeding both this season. I have both BHB and Graziani Cinnys -- I think nothing beats a terrific Graziani!! I have my prettiest girl paired with my Calico. My BHB's have had my Butter on them.

I work with Ian G. Black Pastels. My breeder male is "DEATH" and is making some pretty babies. I do like Gary's line as well -- nice pattern. Cinny's and Blacks each have their place.:gj:

Never seen the cinny/black-lesser before... really nice.

I like dark snakes, so prefer the blacks, and I *tend* to like the crosses they throw (pewters, streaks, bullets, supers)... but as noted depends on the selective breeding of the pastel pairing as well.

But I plan on getting both, but will look for different traits in each.

I like my blacks really dark, and my cinnies light, each is amazing in their own right, just depends on what you like... and as with any morph their is a huge variance within each... faded, blushed, flamed, and crispness of pattern.

Black pastels make blacker supers and cinny supers are browner.
I they think they both are awesome and affect combos in different ways. Some look like a blend of the two but black pastels are darker than cinnies with sqiggliys in the pattern and cinnies have more head blushiing (usually) and a more mojave like pattern.

Here's a pic of my Cinnamon, produced by Tim Bailey. I think the two morphs look worlds apart in appearance and it's just strange to me that they both produce homozygous animals that is so similar to each other. Personally I think they look different enough that I'll probably end up getting both at some time or other.

I am cinnamon fan myself. I think it may be because I like blushing so much, and the cinnamons I have seen have more blushing. I like the black pastels in their own right, but I don't much like the little squigglys in the patterns of the black pastels. I think it is really neat how the combos they make look so different though.

Here is the girl that won me over to 'the cinny side:'

    Nice looking Cinny. ;)

It seems like there are a LOT of different Cinny and Black Pastel lines out there, of course some are more common than others such as Ian G, BHB, and Graziani. However, I think the genetics are close enough... so much so that two Cinny lines might be just as differnet as some Black Pastels and Cinnies. Personally, I don't put much weight in a name but rather how much I like the morph, what it can produce, and what genetic problems might come with it.
