    6 Years....
Just wanted to say that I'm going to celebrate tonight. Tomorrow (the 19th)is my birthday, but even more importantly, today marks my 6th anniversary of being tobacco free. I think I'll stop off on the way home from work to have a few pints at my local smoke free public drinking establishment.....

Congratulations! Anybody who's quit/tried to quit knows how difficult that is.

Isn't it amazing how beer tastes like crap w/o smokes at first, then before too long tastes way better? :)

Try chantix or whatever it is called. I know a few people who have used it, and they said that it works. Hope this helps...

Gotta be careful with that, I quit on it 8 months ago but I got extremely violent and miserable while I was taking it. I had to stop taking it after 3 weeks. It definitely works though if thats any consolation. Obviously it effects everyone differently, but wanted to share my experience. Anyway, congrats Mark and happy b-day :gj:

I've got a script for that Chantix stuff. But insurance doesn't cover it.

And its like 80 plus smackers for a month supply of it. And it takes a few months if I remember right.

I heard its the best stuff out there right now. I also heard a girl I know is on it and puking her guts out.

Anyone else tried it? I may give it a shot if yall have good stuff to say about it.

Check my previous post, you can take it up to 6 months I believe. I honestly didn't want a cig after about a week it was more habitual than actual need, although I wanted to murder people I didn't want to smoke :D

6 years is a looong time!

I was 14 when you quit smoking LOL!

Glad I only dabbled in smoking and got out of it fairly quick.

    Re: 6 Years....
Thank you all for the well wishes. I smoked for over 30 years, and tried to quit several times per year for the last 15 years of that time. I tried the nicotine gum, nicotine patches, gradual reduction filters (they were long plastic filters that made me look like some kind of old time movie star), hypnosis, behavior modification classes, group therapy, keeping journals, snapping rubber bands around my wrist, depression medication, exercise plans, herbal remedies, and plain old fashioned cold turkey. The hardest part of the whole thing was constantly dealing with the failure of not being able to quit. But you have to remember, you can fail thousands of times, you just have to be successful once.

    Happy birthday!

Hey, its a start! try chewing the gum or something, but you cant expect to not to have headaches the first few days and even weeks. Start off slow, and work your way up. Its not easy at all and giveing up after a few hours of withdraw will not solve anything.

    Congrates mark:gj:
