I personally wouldnt wear gloves as human reaction is to jerk away when bit and if a baby snake has a tooth or two stuck in the glove and you yank, you could either do spinal damage or rip out the teeth, both not good for a baby snake. I never used gloves on Pat or any of my snakes. i just took the bite and tried not to jerk away. Luckily...or unluckily, I have only been bit by my 2 big girls and Dottie but it was all from me being stupid with handling food and forgetting to wash my hands lol.
O.... OK. I had already figured out that gloves are useless anyway. Went right through them. Didn't jerk but was surprised. Good looking out. Thank you.

Lol, did one of the ATBs tag you? Pat tagged the owner gal at the reptile shop i got him from two times. Luckily Pat has never tried to tag me, he just hisses and wanders away when i piss him off or he will just look at my hand and flick his tongue when i change his water.

Sauzo beat me to it about the gloves, lol. About the only gloves that help are those too stiff & thick to feel the snake safely in hand...like leather. Then
you run the risk of doing damage with excessive pressure. We can't win...:rolleyes:

Yeah gloves are more or less worthless unless you are dealing with something like a Gila or Beaded lizard like i said. In that case, you dont want them chewing their venom into you since they dont have fangs to inject it. All the snake bites i have taken were pretty much so quick i just looked at it and was like 'wha!!'. Most dont even hurt either as they are just defensive bites which are quick anyways.

Yep. Lightening fast. I had to be careful not to react but was also careful what I allowed within range of their bite. Eyes or nose would be a disaster.

How do you like your new evil ones?!? I think ATBs are so freaking cool. They are definitely on my list. Little balls of hate, I imagine. Can’t wait to see if they calm down. Especially since it’s you that has to break them in and not me!😁

The girl (garden phase) is much more calm than the boy. She is nippy until she is out and then she runs at first. Then she looks at you like she hates you. When she gets put down she mellows quickly but eyes you for about an hour. The boy is like bite bite bite bite bite bite. LOL. He is much smaller than she is. He cant be very old. I was told about 2-3 months on him. She is around 5-6 months. Neither of them would sit for a photo. I do hope over time they both understand I am not a threat with me getting them so young. He eat a pinky mouse and she eat a fuzzy. Rather quickly and greedily I might add. I am happy my retics are much more mellow.
