She'll never drink water again

Don't read this if you're easily grossed. This just happened 10 minutes ago, I couldnt make this up if i tried.
My snakes arent picky, so i feed them according to availability, sometimes its live, today it was f/t. I warmed the rat in a bag, inside glass of water, but unfortunately the bag had a hole so he ended up soaking in the water. I proceeded with feeding and forgot about the glass.
Fast forward an hour or 2, i walk into the kitchen and see the glass but notice it's half empty. Not paying any mind, I empty the glass and set it aside for cleaning, then go into my living room. Not 30 seconds later my wife walks in with a smug grin and asks "Where'd your glass of water go that I was just drinking?"

Maybe start thawing out the feeders in the reptile room? :P

I used to thaw in water and it was such a pain. Now, what I do is thaw overnight in the fridge, sit out at room temp for a couple hours, then hit it with a blow dryer right before feeding. I like this system a lot better as the feeder doesn't get soaked and I don't have to change out water for warmer water several times.

This is EXACTLY the reason I have dedicated deli tubs for defrosting/warming prey. They are kept in the snake room, clearly labeled "NOT FOR FOOD". They are washed immediately after use and returned to the snake room.

Honestly, though, that story is PRICELESS!!!!!

Soaking it in water though helps 'hydrate' the food as freezing saps some of the liquid from it. That's why with my GTP, i inject his mice with about 3/4 of an insulin syringe full of mountain spring water every time. As for the the rest of the food, i just throw it all into a dish tub of warm water and let it sit for anywhere from an hour for mice to 3-4 hours for rabbits and guinea pigs. I just refresh the water every time i go to fish out the next smallest feeders. Works alright for me as i just start thawing usually around 6pm and by 9-10pm, everyone is fed.

And yes, all my snakes gets bottled Arrowhead water lol. I just buy a few cases of it and i and the snakes all drink it lol.

Bobbit ended up being a "movie star" because of that. He had shirts, boxer shorts, etc...with his face all over it, "Bobbitized" became an actual thing. I remember hearing about that when it happened, me and my guy friends (granted we were 14ish at the time) were all super nice to our girlfriends for a while!!!

Here is the real test of your age....do you know how to use a rotary phone or how to use floppy discs? Lol. I remember the good ole days as a kid at my buddies house playing game on his dad's Vic20 and later a Commodore 64 with a sweet cassette drive and dial up modem haha. I still hear the screeching of the modem in my sleep :P

Yup, across the board. I remember playing football on my Intelevision, remember that gaming system? It was nothing like playing Madden today. Ha! Remember temp Bowl???

I don't see how she couldn't tell it was "off" ?? I actually do defrost and warm my rats directly in water, and, there is a definite "Eau de Rat" to the water. Although I cannot be sure of the taste. Surely it wouldn't taste like spring water, though, LOL !!!

This reminds me of a trip I took with a friend some years ago. She decided to get a couple of snakes and was on the lookout for better enclosures. A breeder that lived about an hour away was selling some Vision enclosures, so we decided to make the trip.

What a trip it was...The breeder lived alone on some property. He was a bit of a odd one, for sure. He kept telling us about his great, big compost pile and how he was going to get electricity from it. How you could hide bodies in there...
Then he showed us his huge insect bins. Told us how the insects could strip bodies of other animals down to the bones in no time. Around this time I was starting to feel just a little creeped out. LOL.

FINALLY he got around getting the cages. He then took us to his house so my friend could fill out her check. It was a HOT day in the south and he offered us ice water while he was getting the cages. My poor friend was quite overheated and took a big drink. Before I could drink a odd smell hit my nose. Not strong, just..odd. I didn't drink.
I then noticed my friend spluttering and digging around in her mouth. She kept pulling out short white hair. I then looked closer into my glass and saw white fur floating around among the ice!

Right then the guy stepped back in. My poor friend had to finish the transaction and when we finally pulled out of his driveway and onto the road she swerved onto the side of the road and proceeded to get rid of the furry water she drank. She got back into the car and dug out another hair between her teeth.

I was both laughing hysterically (she was, too) and so disgusted I got goosebumps, LOL.

OMG, zina10...that guy sounds SO creepy, I'd have hauled my tail right out of there. People have been known to disappear after meeting ppl like that...:O

And I'm with you, I thaw rodents in water and I can't believe it would taste or even LOOK ok...unless you'd been eating kimchi or something else with a
strong taste. I guess she can skip her probiotics for the next week now?

Yeah, I did get a bit of a funny feeling. He lived quite remote and it was just us and him. And that gigantic compost pile!!! LOL

All that talk about "bodies", too.

Those insects he had (for lizards I guess?) were in huge crates, too. I don't doubt my friend AND I would have fit in one just fine. I guess it must have looked just like the beginning of a horror movie, haha. The two girls and the creepy man with the compost and insects. I was really glad when we were out of there !!!
The furry water, though, that was the cherry on the cake!!

I was SO glad I didn't drink that. My friend has great will power, although her eyes were sort of watering while she talked to him and filled out the check. I think I couldn't have helped myself and would have hurled right then and there ! :rofl:

LMAO, you wait until you're old and tell her on your deathbed. :8:

Had a similar experience, atkeast with furry water.

It was on a boyscout camping trip, maybe 7 or so years ago. It was early in the morning, and we had just woken up and started to make breakfast. We remembered before the night that our scoutmaster had asked us to fill a very large and heavy jug full of water, and started to pour some for everyone to drink. It took about 5 seconds for us to notice a very large amount of fur in the cups. We opened it up, dumped out the water we had dragged for a mile from a pump (note i was like 11 at the time so that was a huge deal to me) and...3 bloated, now almost bare, drowned field mice came out. Also found a skeleton of one that had made its way into the coals somehow overnight...needless to say us as kids wernt too hungry anymore.

At least we never saw where the fur came from. I just figured he had frozen rodents in his freezer and around his ice (puke)

I should have specified it was her cup she left in the bathroom by accident, she just didnt put two and two together about her finishing it and suddenly it was half full. Hahaha still paying for that
