weekend to-do list
so i'm posting this to kind of help keep myself accountable. i've been falling back into a depressive rut with the change of seasons (otherwise knows as S.A.D.) and letting some responsibilities slip away from me.
no need to comment, since this is kinda just for me, but i think knowing people will see this can help me stay motivated.
SO here's everything i want to get done this weekend:
• laundry (INCLUDING putting it all away)
• shower!
• wash bed sheets
• clean my bathroom
• set up 32qt tubs for Spaghetti and Coffee Bean
• get Spaghetti and Coffee Bean settled into their new tubs
• clean Pumpkin Pie's tub
• double-check everyone's temps and equipment
• try to rearrange where everyone's enclosures are
• winterize the pool
• vacuum the upstairs
• Roomba the downstairs
• get new ReptiChip block soaked and broken up
• start going through my closet (i don't intend to finish this one this weekend)
i'm not really striving to complete this whole list, but it'd be nice! i'm hoping to get through at least half, and keep the ball rolling through early next week.
i'll probably post updates when stuff gets done, again to help keep myself accountable.
thanks for reading! let's go me! [emoji3]

Re: weekend to-do list
tubs are done and snakes are in. NO MORE PYTHONS IN GLASS ENCLOSURES!!! going to clean Pumpkin Pie's tub next.
i rearranged everyone that i wanted to move, and Corny is now in Spaghetti's 20gal glass enclosure which was originally Yellow's glass enclosure (i moved Corny bc the enclosure he was given to me in had no locks).
woo!

Re: weekend to-do list
myself and the bathroom are squeaky clean.
time to vacuum and wash my sheets!

You’re doing a fantastic job! I bet your sneks are loving their new digs, and you’re loving the rewards of your motivation. I’ve been having the hardest time with seasonal depression. My new doctor suggested a duration of 30 minutes each morning with a SAD lamp and getting into natural light without sunglasses for 15 minutes each day. I’ve been doing it for a little over a week and it’s helping. Maybe you could try it? I’m going to start using your list plan! Thank you for sharing.

one of the things my doc recommended is lists; it helps break things down and seem more manageable, plus the act of "crossing stuff out" is very rewarding.
i've been needing one of those lamps forever. do you have a link to one you use?

Yes! the use of lists to cross out is immeasurably beneficial for accomplishing goals, and helping with depression by setting up life motivation right on front of your eyes. even something as simple as
1: get groceries
2: call doctor
3: buy stamps
it helps me with avoiding procrastination and gives me actions to focus on.

exactly; it doesn't have to be elaborate or for big tasks. on bad days i write lists of things to do when i get home, from running an errand to remembering to brush my teeth!

I bought a lamp on Amazon for my son. I don't know to links on an iPad. But when he does use it, it seems to work.

I'm so glad you started this thread, as I have been struggling with procrastination for a couple of years now, and this thread made me realize I need to really focus on making lists again.

Re: weekend to-do list
Consider yourself lucky that you're inside your comfort bubble however....I just bought a home this weekend and my list is as follows starting today at 9am.
Schedule my home inspection, and verify schedules with the realtor, inspector, and myself.
Write and drop earnest money check at the realtor's office one hour from my workplace
Finalize pre-approval with the bank....verifying w-2's, 2016 taxes, paystubs, employment history, and submit completed offer after it arrives from the realitor
Attend home inspection after working 10 hour shift
Verify bank authorized appraisal
....and then after that's done more paperwork....a LOT, LOT more paperwork actually.
EVERYTHING in the process is on tight deadlines as well.....
All in all, the two new extra bedrooms I'm attaining will be GREAT breeding rooms. I'm pricing out freedom breeder racks as well :D :D :D

Shower should be more than a weekend goal. I hope that's at least a 3 times a week goal.

She never said it was just a weekend goal she said it's one of her goals for the weekend... I'm a tad amazed out of this whole thread her PERSONAL hygiene is the part you decide to comment about... Also even if it's was an annual goal that's really none of your concern.

My response was meant in jest. Sometimes I forget people can't see me sneering through the monitor.

I use the HappyLight Touch, Natural Spectrum Energy Lamp. It’s by Verilux. It works really well.

I went on a date last night with a woman I met, and she is studying psychology and she mentioned that CROSSING THINGS OFF OF A LIST INCREASES DOPAMINE! (pleasure hormone) AS WELL as a great way to accomplish goals.

That is why yI would suggest using a smiley or something...that is what they are there for.

yup, dopamine releases when you accomplish a set goal. I wouldn't get any prep done at work if I didn't make prep lists.

a second date can help act as motivation to get your pad clean.

Make sure the list is reasonable. I made a list a mile long, was seriously considered going back to bed... then thought... I have a three day weekend. I always say “If I just had one more day” every Sunday night. So my goal for today is what I’d use that one extra day to do...do some more of my snake set up in the basement and spend about 20 mins each of quality time with 3 of my noodles.
Have a TREAT LIST for yourself when you get some extra time...total feel-good.
And TAKE CARE. <3

There is nothing wrong with a big list, it really doesn't matter how long it is, the main thing is to focus on ONE TASK AT A TIME, and cross it off, then onto the next. If you only get ONE thing done on the list, that is still and accomplishment, and still feels good.:)
