Yea, I thought the same thing then I realized this snake probably easily has a 10k+ price tag on it, so it'll be a very very long time before I ever owned one, then not to mention I know absolutely nothing on the species.

    What cornsnake morph?

Also could you imagine the medias take on the snake would be? I could see it now labeling it as a natural looking killer blah blah blah.

Alright, alright I'll spit it out.

It's a Dominican Red Mountain Boa

Here are some pics of a normal, which do kinda remind me of a BRB in color because of the irra-however-you-spell-it-descence :P.

Believe it or not they have a pair on kingsnake right now for like $1900 shipped or something. It was a pair purchased from Tom Crutchfield. So with that in mind I'm sure you can get babies from him for quite a bit cheaper.

I'm reading up on them now. You sir, have just given me the answer to my ongoing "What boa species do I want to get" question. My god. They are amazing! They are like BRBs (which I love) but without the craptastic version of calico, and instead, have a freaking INSANE version. Win freaking win :D

This is awesome Neal thanks for the share I made it to the topic late. It looks like it got sucked under a push mower and lightly hit by a blade and the person heard the donk from the push mower. Stopped it, pulled the snake out and nursed it back to health. If I owned this snake I would give it a cool name like Slipknot.

$1975/pair from tom. Hatchling price. Must...start...saving...money. Like, NOW.

Edit: That price for the reds, he's got brown's listed at $195 per. LOL quite the difference in price there!

That's good, get a pair and breed them so I can get a baby from you for a very good price since I turned you onto that species :D. I'm glad I could help though.

Yea, that snake just reminds you of metal. I wouldn't of named the morph Calico personally. I would of named it Hellraiser, but that's just me. The first thing I thought about when I seen the snake was:

I'm talking about the base locality, Dominican Red Mountain Boa's. I don't think they'll be selling anything calico related for a while ;) They JUST introduced the locality back in '09 at Daytona. So this species is brand-spankin new to the hobby

The browns and reds are both "Normal", it's just line breeding. He even said he had a brown turn red after a while.

The reds are more sought after and visually stunning, plus higher chance of producing reds. This is all just my take on it from the very little research I've done in the past 10 minutes :P lol Must email Tom :ninja:

Edit: Actually, I'm probably wrong on that...I doubt there would be THAT huge a price difference if you could make reds with the browns or something :P

Yeah we usually get buried in snow most winters. Every once in awhile we get a year where we hardly get any but it's rare. I don't like snow that much but I also don't handle heat and humidity very well. So I'm not sure how well I would do in the south. Usually by mid July I'm praying for fall lol.
