I can't decide which Pewter to keep...
I hatched these 2 girls out last month and keep going back and forth on which one I want to hold onto. They both have faded patches, like their father, but one is way more pronounced. Horrible phone camera pics but you get the idea.

The first girl has really crisp, bold silver coloration, great looking black back, and an interesting fade-out on her tail.

    http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...m/FPewter7.jpg

The second is duller in coloration but the entire lower half of her body fades. Down to her tail, there is no pattern on her sides at all, just on top. Looks really cool the way it melts.

So, I'm torn. Which one would you prefer to continue looking at throughout her life, if you had the choice? All opinions are welcome and appreciated. :)

The second! But since they both have pretty much the same genes, when it comes time to breed them I don't think it'll make a huge difference either way

Honestly? Neither I would rather look at a Pied :gj:

A pied to me looks better than those what's the words? Oh yeah "ASTOUNDINGLY overrated" Pewters of yours.

But I know you will take that just fine because after all how could you get offended over one person's opinion right?

That would be one million percent correct! :gj:

What anyone likes or doesn't like has nada bit of effect on me personally. And considering Pewters don't have NEARLY the hype attached to them that Pieds do, (since they have ZERO hype that I can think of) the term "overrated" doesn't really apply in the least either. :)

I don't think the thread was what do you like better a pied or these pewters? Or did I miss that?

    I'd keep the first one.

    Honestly I'll let go both...

I dont have million balls... Why you ask??? Because I cant afford those i want...

If You keep ball pythons especially if You want to breed them... You buying or the best possible example of morph... or You buy dinkers and try win lottery :gj:

I'm proud of my Yellobelly I believe I seen only 3 better on this site (one crazy patterned owned by Sancera one owned by coldblooded and pair of dinkers YB owned by Royal Morphs)

I'm proud of my "Granite-ish" dinker and I know If She prove She will be worth gold in weight...

I like Pewters but.... this two are just around of average for that Morph... Especially looking at "vomit-ish" pattern of second one my best advice to you:

Sell them both and find One exceptional from different blood line...

That will increase your chance to produce spectacular looking snakes in future and increase genetic diversity of your breeding stock:gj::gj::gj:

I actually just purchased my first ball python ever. I have kept boas, 1 corn, and a rescue ball python for years. Never really had the desire to purchase a ball python until I was at the Myrtle Beach Expo (well my husband wanted to get a ball python for himself and we are still looking for it). He told me to pick the best looking ball python baby (reasonably priced - that is $600 or less). I walked around looking and looking. I had never seen a black pewter before or pewter.

I saw these ball's labelled pewter and black pewters. Of every single ball in that whole expo, I couldn't stop thinking about those black pewters. They were just so hot! I had never seen a ball python that looked like that before. Finally, 1 hour before they closed, my husband was like, so which snake are you getting. I told him that it was probably going to be a pewter but maybe a lesser. I looked at the lessers once more. Then I looked at the pewters. Afterwards, I told him it was a no brainer. I couldn't pass up the black pewter.

The black pewter ball python was the first ball python I ever purchased and he is just so gorgeous and so awesome looking. I can't help but to go check on him all the time just to look at him. :D

I know many people into BP's might not find the pewters as interesting as they know more about the morphs but from a person just getting into BP's, the pewters are hot and awesome. I can't tell the difference between most BP morphs yet because to me, many look similar. I can look at the pewter and tell IMMEDIATELY that it is different and I love that. :D

So, my advice would be to keep the first because it looks wicked. The second is pretty but the first just looks like mine so I am partial to it. :D

They look great to me (you have better pics of the first so its hard to pick) but being I'm no expert on Pewters I think if you can turn those 2 into a real stunner (again, I'm no expert, just goin on what he said) and maybe somethin else while also bringin some new genes to your breeding pool I think thats your best bet......still hard to believe those are average thou...guess I need to look into Pewters more. :)

I know, I do need to take some better pics as soon as I have time. Gotta play with the lighting or somethin...or get a REAL camera! :ohmygod:

As far as muddying the gene pool, when she's old enough to breed, it'll be to a totally unrelated male, so no big deal. So cool to be able to "grow your own".

Not only do I think that the first one is better looking now, but I'd imagine she'll also stay much better looking on into the future.

I really like the look of the faded pewters as babies, but I think that as they grow they tend to fade too much, brown out, and start to look pretty poopy. I like a nice, crisp, clean, light, black-back pewter :gj:

#1 both of those pewters are good looking animals I would keep the one that feeds the best, as it will be breeding size faster, if they are both eating extremely well I would possibly keep both If I had to decide to keep only one and they were both eating good I would prefer #1

#2 Those of you saying trade in on a pied that was not the question asked. I personally have 0 pieds and plan on buying 0 more they are something that is well overrated double recessive mutations are the only thing cool about pieds albino pied or dreamcicle not many jaw dropping co-dom pied crosses out there.

#3 I know my dislike of the pied's is going to stir the stew but if you all wanna talk about pieds go to a thread about pieds and dont take the thunder away from these peoples awesome Pewters
