    Heatpad advice
i have a 10 gallon for the ball. A corn use to live there but moved into the 20 gallon the heatpad i used for my corn when he lived to the 10 gallon is perfect for him temperature wise so i moved it to his 20 gallon with him. i then got a new heatpad for the ball python i got the http://pet.imageg.net/graphics/produ...-3759857dt.jpg

but the only problem is it is too wide for the cage so i figured give my old heat pad back to the 10 gallon and give the new one to the corn that way everything fits! :D

so i got a temp gun today and the temp of the 10 gallon is perfect for the corn thanks to the heatpad and the 20 gallon has the perfect heat for a ball thanks to that heat pad so i need to switch the heat pads but as i said before i cant because it is just a little too wide.

sorry for the ramble its just getting closer to the convention and i need it to all be right before i get him i want the least amount of stress as possible rather than fixing everything while i have him.

    so any tips!?

last dumb ramble i promise! :please:

well now i stuck the prob smack dab in the middle of the heatpad and it says 93.4 and keeps going up but i dont think the snake is gonna like living there with a prob under his hide lolhow hot does it need to be on the glass? so thats its okay for the snake?

Don't cut the heat pad. You can cut flexwatt to the size you want, but not a heat pad.

You could just have the little bit hanging off the side, not really a big deal.

Keep the thermometer probe right on the glass above where the UTH is. Hot glue is a good way to secure it. Your snake will not care. Temps should not get higher than 95* at any point in the enclosure.

Keep the thermoSTAT probe outside the enclosure. Keep the thermoMETER probe inside the enclosure

The reason for keeping it outside is if the snake pees on it or knocks it off somehow, it will cause the thermostat to think the UTH isn't getting hot enough and it will start over heating. If it is on the outside, there is no risk of it getting knocked off and causing a temp spike.

Hmm so tape it to the underside with aluminum tape huh :P

Hmm the box says not to let it touch the direct heat source.. is it fine if it does lol?

What brand thermostat is it that it says that? It should be fine to tape it directly to the heat source. I can't imagine it degrading at 93*F...

The probe has to be on the heat source! How can the thermostat control the heat if it can't read it? It should be safe attached to the heat pad!
