    This is F'en reeeeedickulous!!!!!
This isn't gonna help us at all. There is NO WAY this woman should be able to sue the state. If she can sue the state for this, we should be able to sue for discrimination against us as snake owners(BG has said this for a while). Feral cats kill waaaay more animals than Pythons do.

People are desperate for money right now, so that means any little thing that can happen that you can sue for, you know someone is going to jump ahead and do it, just for the money.

    Yeah, it probably will.

And no, you shouldnt. There should be Legitimacy to filings in court when suing someone. You know, proof that the entity is ACTUALLY at fault. Directly.

You gotta give those people credit. I mean, they took a freaking hot cup of coffee to their lap. That is some downright guts to make a buck. And taking a couple million from a corporation doesnt hurt anyone. I feel no remorse for big companies being sued.

It's very easy to do really. Make whoever brings these lawsuits to court pay court costs and all legal fees if they lose. Most lawyers wouldn't take the risk if that was the law.

Dont "F" with Wild Animals (if you can't accept the consequences)
I have fair and simple rules when it comes to wild animals...:taz:

Rule #1 - If you intentionally put yourself in front of, near or anywhere in the vicinity of a wild animal, anything that happens to you is fair game.

Rule #2 - If you are adverse to rule #1, don't "F" with wild animals.

In addition, I never understand when the public gets all surprised when somebody famous dies at the hands of a wild animal (Steve Irwin for example). Personally, I'm never surprised when this happens; if you "F" with a wild animal, 100% of the responsibility lies with the human, not the beast...

    ...that being said,

Shark attack victims - if you don't like getting bitten in half by sharks, stay out of the water, its a choice.

Bear attack victims - if you don't like getting chased and eaten by bears, stay out of the woods, its a choice.

Snake bite victims - if you don't like being bitten by venomous snakes, stay away from "hots" and get some ball pythons, again, this is a choice only the human can make, the wild animal cannot.

...In short, if you don't want to get royally "F'd", don't "F" with wild animals.

Don't throw someone under the bus just because they make more money.

Frivolous lawsuits are ridiculous no matter who the defendant is, or how much they make.

I have no problem with frivolous lawsuits at all.
I feel bad when it happens to individuals such as a small-time grocery owner who gets sued because a woman falls in his store while walking around in her stilettos while shopping.

I feel bad when a state government, such as the one in this article here, who is already suffering a 624mil dollar deficit, has the potential to be held liable for 150 mil over something that has nothing to do with the state.

I dont feel bad if Coca Cola or Mcdonald's get sued for making people fat. I just don't care about them being robbed of a couple million, because at some point they did something negative to get as big as they did.

Say that to me again when you have a chance at a 40 millon dollar case over something stupid. They're ridiculous until you're in the plaintiffs shoes, watching a settlement agreement being reached for 20 mil. Turn that down, dare you.

Bottom line, lawsuits are the American way. What can you really do?

Even good paste will melt if a hot enough liquid is applied.

There is also a law in place, at least here in La La Land that makes it legal for any liar, er lawyer, to bring any suit against anyone for anything. That way there is no burden of proof and the liar, er lawyer, gets paid.

Pretty cool huh? Clever way to make sure you get paid for doing what you know you shouldn't.

LOL I knew you were gonna come in here sooner or later. Everyone's got a price I suppose. I came to this country and watched my parents do everything the right way, while everyone else's family were finding ways to work the system and get rich. I grew up surrounded by a community of folks screwing the government out of welfare money, defrauding insurance by setting their own businesses on fire, staging car accidents, etc. All this while my parents drove a school bus and beat my ass for grades lower than 95. I harbor a tad bit of resentment, and wouldn't ever work the system over illegally. But the day the cards turn and I legitimately have a claim to something...you can bet your life Im for sale.

You know right from wrong. There's nothing special or original about you or the way you grew up.

It just amazes me when people get all butthurt because they've said something stupid or that paints them in a negative light. Then I wonder why. Then I usually chuckle. Then I'm usually sad.

I kinda feel bad for your parents now.

A frivolous lawsuit is one without merit.

It just leads thoughts down a road that goes right by this place where if you'd do that, what else might you do? Or not do if the payoff was enough.

You're just not as right as you could be. To me.

Definitely a thin line and an easy path to stray off of. No arguements there.

Ill continue the whole school/work thing Ive got going though, seems like the personal reward is greater for doing it the right way.

Not ever. For someone to sue a company over something like that is ridiculous. You gotta trust the judicial system to weed out the lawsuits such as those same as they did in the McDonald's case.

the mcdonalds case wasn't a frivolous law suit. That coffee really was WAY too hot (hot enough for that woman to receive full thickness burns, those are 3rd degree burns and the worst kind of burns). It was between 180F and 190F.

This lawsuit.. i dont even understand. Why was the chimp not in his cage in the first place? If his owner was responsible he never would have been out of his cage like this.. and coaxing him back in? Yeah, i wanna hang around the business end of a tiger with a raw t-bone in my hand.

People forget about how dangerous large primates are because they "look" cute. If she was afraid of him she never should have been near him.

its another link in the chain of completely preventable attacks by captive undomesticated animals. the OWNERS need to take more responsibility.

I have to say as a Canadian, that visiting the States always has a measure of culture shock for me. Americans are much more willing to sue for things that we in Canada would shrug off as a fluke. If I slip and fall in the supermarket, I giggle nervously, make sure there's nothing stuck to my pants, and hope no one I know saw me.

I think a major difference between how Canadian kids and American kids are raised is, Canadian kids are usually taught "If something bad happens to you, odds are it's your own dumb fault." You got hit by a car while jaywalking? Well, what were you doing in the middle of the road, genius?

    And i Disagree. STRONGLY.

ive found hair in my food, does that justify me to sue a company for it? No!! Crap happens..... If i found lots of hairs in my food? Id go to the store owner and make sure that the people responsible for such an act, would be removed from their jobs. They obviously should not have the privilege of having a job. The store owner is NOT responsible for that kind of a move, unless, of course, he had a hand in it. and even then.... i would find other means to justify my response.

How. How are you justified to sue a company for a MISTAKE? OR your crappy balance if you tripped and fell and broke your arm? No wet floor signs? Why? Did someone make a mistake? were they JUST putting them out? Did they not even KNOW about it yet? Accidents happen and unless something was done PURPOSEFULLY to harm another human being, id NEVER consider it sue worthy. Even failing to fix an uneven sidewalk i wouldnt consider sue worthy. I should be watching where im going, and if i have issues walking, i should be responsible for my OWN ability to find a way to get the tasks i need done.

Im responsible for ME. noone else is.

If the airbags dont deploy, WHICH DOES HAPPEN and im pretty sure they even state it in Manuals that there is a percentage of error...( not 100% on that, but i honestly dont see why not...) in some vehicles, me knowing that this can sometimes happen does NOT justify me suing a company for something that was out of their control. I KNOW the risk of getting into my car EVERY DAY, if they dont deploy, Too bad for me. I should have thought about that. If needed, i should have had them tested.

Im sorry, im an honest person. You wont find me feeling justified in punishing some large company for a mistake that was not directly of their doing.

Now, if some guy shot me and injured me, on purpose? ( not by accident, read...) yeah. Id be suing his butt. Why? because he was DIRECTLY responsible for trying to cause me life threatening injury.

Point is. I wont sue for petty crap like that EVER. I DO NOT AGREE a person is "justified" in suing, for some petty thing like falling, or spilling coffee on their lap. its pathetic and should not be able to happen.

    Re: This is F'en reeeeedickulous!!!!!
Big Gunns isn't gonna quote everyone and comment on what they said. BG does think you should be able to sue for certain things in this country, but this one is crazy. If this one goes through, Big Gunns is suing the government because it didn't protect him from all those mosquitoes that bite his perfect bod.:D BG always heard you can't sue the government, so he's actually interested to see how this turns out. In some cases(not this one) you should be able to sue in BG's opinion.

As far as all the frivolous lawsuits are concerned. All they do is cost everyone money. Companies need more insurance to protect themselves and they pass that cost on to you. Big Gunns is always amazed when he goes to another country the things that he sees. Some of these things that are no big deal really, he knows would never be allowed in the states for insurance reasons.

The government can't protect it's people from every danger in the world....and it should stop trying. Big Gunns has said this before and he'll say it again. Do you believe that when it's your time to go, there's nothing you can do about it? If you believe this (listen up lawmakers) then passing a law to make something safer(seatbelts...etc...) shouldn't change anything. When it's your time...it's your time...if you believe that. That's just one of those "things that make you go HMMMMM".

What people need is more "personal responsibility". BG isn't saying he would never sue, but sometimes you really need to ask just who's fault was it. The real problem is that it's hard for someone not to sue when a lawyer promises them millions. BG can completely understand.

Whoever...BG ain't going back to see right now....that said McDondals must have done something bad in the past to become such a big company(paraphrasing) so they should be sued is really making a reeee****culous comment. Come on....leave old Ronnie Mc'D alone. BG loves his McNuggets.:D

By the way. BG eats fast food all the time, and except for the times when he gets a leeetle lazy(rarely), it didn't hurt BG's bod. It's all moderation people. Don't blame McDonalds.

They were selling coffee that was literally so hot it was dangerous. I wouldn't want anyone selling me ice cream that gave me frostbite and made me lose my tongue trying to eat it either, but I bet if I did and sued for it, people would laugh at me too.

BG understands that she should be able to sue the owner, but not the state.

Although, BG doesn't have all the facts yet. If she came in the house and took this Chimp out without permission, she does have some responsibility in what happened. It doesn't matter if the Chimp knew her and everything was fine before.

Ice cream will give your tongue frostbite. Keep holding new ice cream on your tongue for an hour and BG bets you'll lose it.:D

Don't worry I agree completely on this one, I was just pointing out that we shouldn't give this lady too much crap, her life has been totally completely ruined. If I lost my entire face including my eyes, (and had her HANDS ripped off from what I heard?!) I'd probably kill myself. Screw lawsuits, no amount of money can bring her to normality.

lol too true I suppose, I guess I was picturing more 'ice cream at 0 kelvin' instantaneously freezing and destroying any human tissue it comes in contact with.

BG does feel sorry for this women and you're right...no money can compensate her. BG wants all the facts though to see exactly what happened. You can't believe what the news says.

A guy in Florida that has Cougars just had some people attacked at his place last year. He was set up at the show next to us and he got a call from Fish and Game that a girl was attacked at his place. Apparently the neighbor, who had been there before, let her in the cage. In this case, BG isn't sure who's fault it is. The neighbor was not supposed to be there...... Not sure whatever happened. You can google this incident.
