Re: What gets your Goat on the forums?
There is a great difference between bashing a newb for asking a question and giving a dingleberry a ration for being stupid.
I suspect that most try pretty hard to distinguish the newbs from the berries.

And it's not so much self pride as it is pride for this website. Like I said there is no need for self proclaimed experts to be rude to newbies because they don't have time to answer such a petty question. This site was created for newbies and if you scroll to the top of every page it says, and I quote "the friendliest online community for all your herping needs". If we're rude to someone right off the bat we're going to lose members. This site has a lot to offer and I'd hate for someone to leave when they need advice just because someone took the time to be rude.

I must have missed the election that put you in your position of Politeness Enforcer.
I will kindly ask that should you think I have been rude to someone, you keep you butt out of my business. I almost always have reasons for what I do and I have no intention of explaining them to those, like yourself, who do not approve of them.
When one of the Red or Green names has an opinion, I will do my best to acquiesce, but short of that, I do take offense at people going behind my back to alter what I have written/said.
Do it in public if you want to disagree with me, or anyone for that matter.
Sneaky people are not to be trusted.
People who pm other people about yet other people, but don't let the people they're pm'ing about know, are sneaky.

It is good that I am not the rod to measure by. On occasion I fall far short of what I expect from myself.
I've been pondering this the last couple of days.
I made an ASS umption, thereby making an ass of myself even though I still ASS ume I was correct. This aside, it's no business of mine what anyone does in PMs. I may not like it. Life is tough.
Sorry Isis, I didn't mean to ram a battleship up your butt. Especially for something you may not have even done and, dopey me, had you, was none of my business anyway.
I don't like sneaky people but you just try to make nice for folks. That's a nice thing, a good thing, a thing that makes this site as good as it is. Keep it up.
However, I honestly do almost always have a reason for my posts, should any of them have ever been the initiator of your PMs. Just so you know, I'm not just mean to be mean nor rude to be rude. Usually. And, when I am, there is usually a goal I am looking for.
Heck, in all honesty, some of the posts I make are so people WILL talk, not about me, but about whatever I posted on, while not online. That, however, is neither here nor there.
I was unnecessarily rude and wanted to make it right.
Sorry Isis.
Carry on as you see fit.

Re: What gets your Goat on the forums?
I hate when people ask questions that could easily be answered by searching this site or just by looking it up on google. We have several caresheets on here and there are tons of other respectable caresheets on the web.

I take offense to that.
Assuming that your 'Lord' is the same one we all have or that we have one at all is rude. If I was an Atheist, I could easily throw that back at you in that I have every right to use something I don't believe in in vain.
After all, people tend to use my religion as a word in vain constantly, but do I cry about it? No, it's their immaturity and ignorance.
They don't have to follow all the guidelines like you do, it's not fair of you to try to force that on others. It's not like people are going around screaming "I hate Jesus!"

I don't think she's trying to force it on others. She's just saying what annoys her about this particular message board, and that is why she doesn't visit as often. That's what this whole thread is about.

What it looks like TO ME, is they are just words. and will be used as just that. Its not like they would be used in a negative connotation against a persons belief, as much as, just a negative connotation in and of itself, because its become a common phrase in the American language. Thats what happens with language, it evolves and changes, and turns into something else entirely over the thousands of years its in use.
Unfortunately, i suggest people grow thicker skin, unless these people call you, personally some horrible name because of the way you feel, i highly suggest not taking such immediate offense. The world's a'changin, and there are more people that feel this way every day.
Its not that respect was not given, because the words typed are FAR from disrespectful. ( If anything my... "Joke" Would be something i would consider more along the lines of disrespectful... har har. and even then, hardly that....)
Also. I hate when people use the word "our" when speaking about that stuff. I suggest the usage of the word "my" as, you cannot speak on anyone's behalf.
Ohyeah. Edit. When i say... "You" I dont necessarily mean. YOU.

What 1 person takes from words may not be what the writer intended which is why i asked. I'd rather ask what the original intent was rather than have the wrong assumption.
Edit.. Actually I overlooked the fact that it was a hypothetical scenario.. Ignore my post! lol

Yes, that exactly, thank you.

"Cry about it" implies that I've posted about it many times which, to the contrary, this is the first time I have done so, and only because it directly answers the question about what "upsets" (exact word) us members. Frankly, someone screaming "I hate Jesus" doesn't bother me at all, but using his name like a cuss word does. A lot milder language gets you in trouble here, but not that.
I make no assumptions and am not asking anyone to believe as I do, only that, in fairness to all, NO religion or deity be insulted. You said people use your religion in vain. I have no idea what religion that is, but whatever it is, it shouldn't be casually thrown about or spoken of in a derogatory way in a public forum.
Respect. Whether people agree or not -- whatever the topic -- it all comes down to RESPECT.
