just tell your friends that its either snake addiction, or alcohol addiction, which do they think is better? lol, cause really, if you cant be obssessed with snakes, then what else is there to live for, right?

My second passion is astronomy. Nothing like going out on a crystal clear night and looking into the past. I spent about $400 on my telescope used and I can see most deep sky objects, like the Andromeda Galaxy and a list too long of the Messier objects.

That might work if my friends didn't know I don't like drinking. :P

And before my snakes all I talked about was my dog. I love animals, there what I know a lot about. Well that and computer programming, but being nerdy about computers only gets me so far. :P

did you seriously only pay 400 for that? i always figured something like that would run at least a few grand, how many magnification is it?

How about picking up an instrument? Drums offer a great workout. I've gained a lot of muscle in my arms and calves from playing drums. Being that you live in an apartment an acoustic kit probably wouldn't work out very well, but electronic kits can usually be picked up fairly cheap on CL these days.

I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano, but an electric keyboard might work just as well. :)

It's a 10" dobsonian. Dobsonians are IMO the best bang for your buck. They are much cheaper than refractor telescopes and have very similar optics. My specific telescope is a Hardin 10" dobsonian, brand new (even though Hardin doesn't exist anymore) it would go for about $600-800 for 10". The wider the view, the more expensive.

This, is my main goal one day ;)

Don't get me wrong, if I could afford an awesome refractor telescopeI would, but those are the ones that cost thousands. Most are motorized and move with the sky, most have go-to finder, which is pretty much a little computer, you plug in what you want to see and it moves on it's own. I like my non-motor though, part of the fun is star hopping and finding things on your own :D

Edit: Oh as far as the magnification, it depends on which eye piece I use. I have quite a few, the better ones obviously being more expensive. I can see pretty frickin' far though, lets just say that ;)

that thing is absolutly insane, i think i would want a manual one too though, it sounds funner to move it myself than push a button. the one in the link looks definitly worth it, to be able to see saturn like that from here?:taz: can you imagine the moon through that!? you could probably count the craters lol
