I have two sons, 9 and 14 years old. My wife home schools both of them. It is awesome. Everyone can sleep in, take days off and make them up whenever, work at there own pace, grow a 2 ft green mohawk (my 14 yr old has had a long mohawk since he was 5), whatever as long as the work gets done. Another benefit is they do the work until they understand it. An 85% is required on all of their work. They are still learning from the same textbooks at the same pace as public school kids, but are not left in the dust if they don't get something right away.

My kids have both been to public schools. We have always given them a choice. They both have chose to stay home. When they went to public schools, I had to deal with "professionals" telling me what drugs my kids should be on or that my kids hair is a distraction, or they have to get certain shots. The public schools don't even do a very good job of doing what they are supposed to do, which is teach, but they have all this advice on how I should do my job? I just avoid the whole thing and let the kids stay home and actually learn things.

So then, if I have this right, you not only decided not to deceive a school by agreeing to follow their rules and then disobeying but you also accepted responsibility for fulfilling the shortcomings you found with the public school system?

You didn't get all butthurt because a rule you agreed to follow became an issue that you had no valid reason to disagree with? You didn't get all bent because when someone laid out the guidelines for participation, which you agreed to follow, then chose to disregaurd, caused your child, not you, the one who actually caused the problem by not following the rules you agreed to, to be punished?

    Heh, good job.

Now as far as medicating.....I work at a school and do see a need sometimes...but I think it is much more of a rarely needed thing. Many boys in paticular are just boys.....they are crazy...wild and take a lot longer to settle down and get to a routine. I think you have to take a look at their home life...tramatic experiences, certain foods and routines. Most of the time I think that will fix a lot of the problem.

If long hair is considered a distraction, so much so that it requires cutting, then I believe it should be required of ALL STUDENTS, regardless of gender/sex. There is no difference between long hair on boys and long hair on girls in regards to distraction. This is one of those "boys play with trucks, girls play with dolls" things. Boys, traditionally, have short hair. Girls, traditionally, have long hair. I can't stand this stuff, and the fact that they were willing to expell a child only because he won't cut his hair is horrible. A child, who is willing to go to school, behave, get an education, is going to be kicked out of his school and made an example of only because his hair is a few centimeters too long. Now, if this boy was bringing guns to school, being violent with classmates, or was failing out of school, I could see how actions would need to be taken, but HIS HAIR?

And THIS is one of the reasons I am going to home school my kids!

And Im not sure about MN but in AZ.....I would say longer hair is more the norm in young MS boys....at least at my school and most the younger boys on the Disney and Nick network. Just me though......

Your attempt at what I assume is humor seems somewhat lacking in depth. Not that I expect anything particularly deep from you, it's just that I'm sort of surprised. Not only is this the best you can do but you seem satisfied with it. I certainly wouldn't be, but then we have vastly different standards for what we're satisfied with.

    Heh.

Waaahhhhh....can the mods help me someones picking on me.....waaahhh. Pathetic....just pathetic and BEYOND WEAK!!!!!! Really....coming from you who picks on everyone(including the person who posted just before your last post)....it's WEAK!!!!!!! Asking for points and calling names. PATHETIC!!!!!

neil, you're either an idiot or the perfectr imitation of one.

The points I was referring to were the ones her friends, you know those guys, virtually in a league of their own, are giving their little puppet.

Maybe you should just shut your yap when you don't know the facts.

When you ASS ume, as with all you do, you make a REALLY big ass out of yourself.

As for what you would do....who asked?

So what you're trying to say is this. You're outta your "league" with her "friends" so you have to pick on her here where you have "friends". Trying to link her to that site so the mods may not like her. Smart move, but BG sees through it.

Don't tell BG you're banned over there along with Patty? If it will make yah feel any better, that leeetle guy over there(not Larry...he has some Gunns:D) isn't BG's best buddy either, but only because he hasn't met him.

Maybe she came here to see what BG has been up to. BG does have fans yah know.;):D

OH yeah...it's very hard for BG to "shut his yap", but he'll try...just for you.;):D Then again....he might do like you do....and answer whether "asked" or not.:P

Hope BG has the "facts" now.:P

    I agree.

I don't mind a spirited debate with opposing view points but when "the other side" starts calling people names instead of contributing positively, it becomes pointless to respond to "the other side".

Somehow somewhere someone got a pic of BG and Willy and posted it on youtube. They got our names wrong though. BG is on the right in the red shirt. They couldn't have picked a better song for us.

Long or short hair is not really important. I don't see how it would be anymore distracting than say, shaving his head.
The kid looks like a little girl with his hair like that, and if his parents want him to go around looking like a little gay boy (pillow biter), that's their right.
I feel sorry for the kid. Spend 10 bucks and get that boy a freakin' haircut.
