I remember when Charlie and I bought our first house. I still sometimes sit downstairs and look around and think....OMG...I can't believe this is my house.
Awesome feeling.....again congrats and enjoy!!
Oh for sure. I used to go to Home Depot for rack building stuff and just walk past everything like it didnt matter. I live in an apt, what do I care about faucets? Haha but we were in HD the other day to buy new door handles and I just DROOL over the things they have now. I cant wait to start putting time into improvements.

Oh, and by posting this, you're contractually obligated to post pics of the herp room when you get settled in. :D
Haha for sure, I will once it's all set up the way I like it. This weeks not a good time for pics as it's just gonna be a rack and 3 tubs of rodents, but once it's set up Ill be all over posting pics. A herp room has been a dream of mine and my wife's...for me because I want my own space and my wife because my snakes make a hell of a lot of newspaper noise at night. Hehe.

But it is really nice, has a family room, fireplace, and lots of good stuff!!!!!!!!
We currently live in a 950 sq ft 2br/2ba apartment. This thing has...5 bedrooms(2 of which are in the basement, framed and drywalled and wired...we just have to paint and carpet), 3.5 bathrooms...one having a GIANT bath tub, a sitting room, a living room, a family room also in the basement, the kitchen has one of those islands which was a huge selling point for me and my wife (don't ask lol), a loft on the second floor that overlooks the living room, a walk in closet in the master bedroom that can be a room all on its own(wife's selling point, bane of my existence. I have to buy her more clothes now to fill it up). Only thin we dont have that I really wanted was a fireplace but we're gonna put one in with that $8k tax credit.

Instead of covering racks, now I tore down a wall and made one big snake room! I love owning!:)
As far as coming off as bragging... Buying a house has to be the one of the most, if not the most stressful/exciting purchase in your life. You cant help be excited and want to share! If that is too much for others to handle, then that is on them!:gj:
Ugh annual inspections. This year was the first time I ever dealt with one. My poor snakes had to live in a heated suitcase for like 36 hours. NO MORE OPPRESSION BY THE LEASING OFFICE!
AS for stress, I dont think Im normal. I havent accepted the fact that I have a house yet as we still have 15 days to live out or lease in the apartment. Im sure when Im asleep in this new place for the first time reality will sink in...and I wont be able to sleep.

Thank you! It is...wifey is kinda stressed out because she hates the fact that we are indebted to someone for 30 years....but it goes away when I remind her that we have 40k in equity already.

im extremely happy for you and i hope more people go through that as well =]]]
high five
Thanks! Yeah nothing beats doing something for yourself. It's the way I feel everytime my rodents drop a litter...control over my destiny and more power in my hands as opposed to the pet store.

Congrats again and I hope you enjoy home ownership.
Hey congrats! We dont have to do too much work. This is a HUD home but the people fixed it up before they moved out. We really only need to paint because my wife wants to paint.

Bedroom herp room is fine until you do something like I did along these lines"
A) Leave a F/t rat over night but forget it about it the next day and come home to the smell of decomposition and an angry wife the following morning ( I work nights)
B) Have a BP get sick and drop diarrhea bombs that stink to high heaven.
C) Have 16/18 BP's all go poop in the same night(at one point I had that many snakes before I gained control over my impulse buying)
No more bedroom herp room for this guy!
