I have no dog in this fight, but I have to chime in.

How is Brian being “upfront” with free shipping by not telling you about the exact same increase in price to cover the “free” shipping? In my book with over 20 years in retail/wholesale at all levels, he is clearly back dooring you, far from being “upfront”.

Some may consider this shady or unethical. Me? I think it would be better to advertise the product at $20.99 shipped and drop the “free shipping” claim. That way I can appreciate his change in the pricing structure. But to turn it into a marketing deception is just wrong.

Folks that consider this shady/unethical may not buy any snakes either. To me, his gambling snake sales as well.

I do agree with you that the no tax is pretty sweet!

That’s my view from the saddle and worth what you paid for it.

I do agree with the "fee shipping" BS.

That was unnecessary. I have no problem with the price. I have no problem with paying shipping.
I still hope that more options will become available in time, but until then, I pay the price and I pay shipping.

But not need to juggle words to make it sound better, it does leave a bad taste!! $20.99 shipped it should have been!!!

I have also said before, I kind of wish it was still Herptopia. While I have no business with Brian in one way or another and don't know him, I am afraid he will end up tanking this substrate business and I really would like to keep using this stuff.

Its because he worships the almighty dollar, lol. Nothing wrong with that, I really like the guy, but i hate when he says, “its not all about the money.” Over and over again, in like a ton of videos.
When it clearly IS all about the money for him,hes a big time business man.

I'm not a fan of him. Nor do I hate him.

Also have no problem with a business making money.

On top of that, the price has actually never changed. It has always been that price, even before Brian endorsed/sold it. It has always been $15.99 plus $5 shipping. Which makes it $20.99 shipped. I can live with that for what I get out of it.

I don't like the word juggling of calling it $20.99 with "FREE SHIPPING". Many businesses use these tactics, nothing new about it. Nothing really shady either, no scamming going on here, just word games. But I don't like it.

However, that in itself won't stop me from buying it, as it performs well for my animals.

It ships from Missouri so a few days to where you are. Midwest Organics has always been good about shipping.

Can you guys knock it off about the Brian hate. The bag stands on its own and is the same price as the stuff form Zilla and Zoomed so there is no reason to knock it because of the man on the bag even if he is an evil capitalistic swine :p

I assume most of you use loose bedding like this in cages such as an AP T8. I like loose bedding in tubs but find it messy in cages. I wish I liked it because I think the animals would prefer it over the kraft paper I currently use in my large cages but then I would have to worry about them ingesting it at feeding.

What do you all do at feeding time??

I've fed on Aspen, I've fed on Repti Chip and I've fed on Reptile Prime.

The only problem I've ever had was one piece of Aspen and a piece of Repti Chip getting stuck in a mouth. They can usually work substrate out of their mouth, they do it in the wild. Even a bit swallowed poses no problem.

Its when it gets stuck, that creates a problem. Only happened twice in many years. I removed the pieces. The pieces were longer and thicker, sort of the shape of a big splinter. That is why I don't like chunky substrate or super fine (like coffee grounds) substrate. I really don't like splintery wood substrate.

If the substrate is soft and not chunky, if they ever do get some in their mouth, it won't be an issue. Most falls off while they work the rodent into their mouth.

I never place something on the substrate for them to eat off of. And the rodents are slightly wet. Still no problems.
