You did - I commend that and am happy to see you here explaining your side of the story. Had you not given a hoot, you would not be here.
I just hope you don't think that just because something doesn't say who it belongs to or contains some kind of copyright mark or name that Google deems it fair game for anyone in the world to use. That's not the way things work.

Re: Picture thief
Perhaps the issue is not with your apology but with the fact that you then called into question the validity of the person who owned the picture and attempted to justify your use of the photo because it was not watermarked. Sometimes an apology should be just that, an apology without all the other stuff mucking it up.

What about just respecting copyright and not using any pictures until you have permission from the owner?

If you read the email I sent him you will see I did ask once he said it was his, I never got a response.

Re: Picture thief
That's just it Phil
It doesn't matter that he didn't respond. It's still not your image.

Re: Picture thief
Pretty much my point too.
If you know the photo is not yours, you should not be using it until you have express permission from the owner.
That's the point of copyright.

Re: Picture thief
Here is a little reminder on copyright that will be useful to everybody.
http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/dco...trefresher.htm
This goes to anyone reading this not singling out anyone; I am posting this specifically because from time to time on this forum we also run across people posting pictures that do not belong to them.
Because people post their picture(s) online does not mean they want other people to use them or redistribute them (watermarked or not). If you wish to share a picture that does not belong to you simply put a link that will re-direct people to the said picture(s) or email the owner and ask for the permission to use their picture(s).
Even giving proper credit when posting a picture does not mean anything if the owner did not give you permission to use their work.
So keep this in mind when posting something that does not belong to you.

I am not happy that kingsnake closed your account. I thought I had e-mailed you back not to use it but looking on my computer I had wrote a draft (unsent e-mail response) and then for some reason not sent it (must have got distracted by the 3 year old). All I wanted was for you to stop using the picture not to get kicked off kingsnake. I am sorry they took such drastic measures.
THE END!

Re: Picture thief
Just a precaution, I'd make the watermark a little bigger. . . or use one that's more difficult to remove. I just removed the watermark in a simple paint program & it took me less than 3 minutes to have it done and saved out in .jpg format. I don't know how to post pictures directly on the thread like that guy did to show his watermarked pied picture.
