Re: My Albino's & the Triple Threat

What strange looking snakes! They're cute! How big do they get? Are they pretty mellow tempered or are they bitey? lol

They don't bite defensively; they play dead and headbutt you with their noses.

Those are amazing photos (and Hoggers)! Maybe you should send the last one to the HOTM contest. That picture also happens to prove that Hoggers can do well together, and will not always eat eachother.

They are amongst the smallest snakes widely available in the hobby. Females grow around 24", while males hardly push 18". While they seem small, Hognose snakes are extremely bulky for their size, so a fully grown female is as fat as a 5-foot corn snake.

Hognose snakes basically have a "no-bite guarantee". It is extremely difficult to get bitten by one. There has not been a single report of a Hogger biting someone in defense. They will only bite as a feeding response. They still make a good show though.

Re: My Albino's & the Triple Threat

Thank you for the comments. This is only page I frequent, considering my snake collection is hogs and a pair of corns at the GF's house. So I am not familiar with the POTM contest. Is it in the photography forum? I would gladly enter it and see what happens. Here a few more shots. Enjoy.

I do have to admit, that probably is the cutest herp photo ever. Come on, send it to the HOTM already!

Anyway, back to your question: I've seen standard albinos for under $150 at my local expo (which is kind of a big-time expo). I don't know much about the other types.
