Did you say all that in three sentences?
But I agree, it's horrible.

Well, if you count three dots like this ... as the end of a sentence, then yeah, 3 sentences. If not, then only 2 or 1 1/2.
I agree as well.
Okay, I'm going to stick my neck out again but be gentle guys. I just want to bring something up that's been bugging me in my ignorance.
So, there's this thing called backyard breeders for dogs and cats, right. And usually, when you say backyard breeder it gives a negative connotation. Basically, it is discouraged and that's why they always promote getting your mammals fixed.
But, for snakes, it seems that it has a different standard. I'm not sure if maybe that's just because the hobby is fairly new compared to dogs and cats, or, that owning 100 snakes is still deemed okay whereas owning 100 dogs would for sure get you in big trouble. I don't know. But, I'm just a little worried that there are waaaayyy too many snake breeders out there and that the desire for $$$ might overpower the welfare of the snakes. It seems like there is a race for producing this and that kind of morph, not necessarily so you can brag and say you own one but so that you can put it up on the classifieds in a quickness to get more $$$. I have the impression that I'm the only one in this forum that is not breeding something. And, especially with the hets and such, what happens to the ones that are not pretty enough, or did not produce the visible morph. I got this thought in my head that those guys are getting hot-potatoed around. I don't know. Like I said, I'm fairly new to this thing. It is just an impression I got, of course. My only exposure to ball python owners is this forum and the reptile store close to my house. So, I really don't know what people do with their snakes.

I think that in any hobby where live animals are kept and bred, there are three types of breeders. Professional breeders who make their living from these animals, Hobby breeders who have a passion for these animals, and the Backyard breeders who are in it for the money, not the welfare of the animals.
I do wonder what happens to all the BPs that some backyard guy thought he was going to get rich off of, before the reality set in. In my short time in the hobby, I've met several hobbiest breeders who are outstanding people and produce top notch snakes. These are people who are willing to raise every snake they produce in the event they can't sell any hatchlings. Many of the hobby breeders can match the pro breeders for quality, but lack the ability to produce in large quanities.
And no, you aren't the only one on BP.net that doesn't want to breed BPs I consider myself a collector, not a breeder. I have no plans to produce any BPs of my own, even though I have some small projects in the works with friends who do breed.

Re: some of these pet stores need to call it quits..
I am hoping to be what we call a hobby breeder. I am getting my Guys and Girls in the stable and I hope to have at least three viable clutches next year...
I will not produce something I can not take care of. I will not cull any in the event they are hets or normals. I would rather give them away then kill them.
There are dishonest people in all aspects of life, whether it is animal breeding, construction, or mowing your yard. Trust no one and the ones you do trust question...
People call me jaded... I just don't trust any one...
I hope this helps.
