anyone have a pic of a full grown adult in their habitat?? this picture makes me really want one...well ive always wanted one just dont know if im ready to have a 15 foot snake yet..but id love to see a picture of how a adult is housed jus for future reference...

I feed all of my snakes thawed (from frozen) prey. At present, my small male albino Burm (Saint) is feeding on weaner rats, which are defrosted at room temperature (which is my preferred method, but some people use warm water), and then simply placed within his enclosure, without disturbing him. When I do want to handle him, I will gently stroke or rub his head, all in order to help him distinguish the difference between feeding/handling time, and to help cancel out his feeding response on non-feeding days. However, as he gets bigger, instead of using my hands, I will most certainly be using a snake hook to do this, but I'm not too worried about getting tagged while he's little. All of my other snakes, on the other hand, strike feed from feeding tongs, but I do sometimes heat the head of the prey a little, using a hairdryer, in order to help some of the less accurate strikers target their prey more easily. However, I did not want to get Saint into the habit of being fed in the same way, as this is, in no way, going to be practical in the future, when he's a lot bigger and stronger, so I am aiming to get him hook trained and familiar with the practice from as young an age as possible.

Most of mine eat frozen i have a few though that will only eat live. All mine are housed the same way also substrate is newspaper its cheap and easy to clean. I dont give my burms hides just becasue the fact when they get large its very hard to find something they can fit in I use to give them boxes and then when they got bigger they would get bigger boxes but they would go to the bathroom on the boxes and it was just a mess so now I lay newspaper down and then crumble a few sheets of it in there cage and they use the newspaper thats crumbled as a hide. All of my Large snakes are housed in visions model 632 at the moment. Until we get some animal plastics caging. Here are a few pics of some of them in there cages. Ill have to get new pics this weekend .

Need a hide box. You can use a simple shoe box. Or even a 12 pack case of soda.

Do you have a way to check/regulate the temperature the bulb is creating? That looks a lot like the bulb I used as a basking spot for young monitors, which gets really warm.

if thats a 40 or 60 watt bulb on that hight, it will make perfect temperatures..
i warm all my cages up with heatbulbs for 17 years now and nothing more than perfect, with bulbs/spots you can create a optimal temperature variation in your cage, i never worked with heatpads for warmth from underneath or anything like that......
