I lost my 1st BP 3 months after I got him, I buried him in my back yard and planted a rose bush right on top of him. The blooms make me smile

When my corn snake passed away, we buried her(not in a casket of any sort) out in the woods. I have only lost "pets", and so far I have never owned any "business investment" animals.. I'm curious as to how the big breeders deal with animal deaths.

Yeah I know. She doesn't just do it to me though. She is an idiot but her son is the former mayor so she doesn't get ignored for her insanity.

lol the lil old lady 4 houses down from me is crazy as well i dont pester her though as she cant help it she is a sweet heart most of the time but. she can flip her wig... she tossed a loaf of wonder bread (un-opeded too) at me out her car window one day when i was walking down to the post box at the end of my road lol

Now, I wonder what you did to tick her off!

I used to live in this neighborhood where we had a block captain (for the homeowner's association). She's at the end of the cul-de-sac, my house was right next to hers. Everytime we drive around the cul-de-sac to get to our house, we see her blinds dip. When we go jogging or walking the dog, same thing. It seems like nothing happens in that block without the block captain knowing!
Now here's the crazy part... Behind the block captain's house is the main road for the subdivision. You can see that road through her side-yard. My side-yard has a fence, so you can't see the road through my yard. So then she planted bushes on the side of her house. It blocked the view to the main road. So, our other neighbor (she must be like 90 years old if she was a day) got really mad. She spends her mornings and late afternoons sitting on a portable chair on her driveway looking at the main road through the block captain's side yard, well, now she can't do it. So, she went over to the block captain and complained and told her to yank out the bushes! Of course, the block captain said no (the block captain is in her 70's, I think. She's old too). So, this 90-some year old lady scratched up the block captain's face and yanked her hair!!! It was PSYCHOTIC!

Anyway, my cat died while I lived there so, to be safe, I asked the block captain if I can bury her. She said, of course, and she even helped me dig up a hole (probably to make sure I dig it deep enough!). The next house I got is where I buried my dog. And this house I live in now is the burial site for several hamsters (they don't live too long - the oldest one I had was 3 years old, but mostly they only go to 1.5 years or so). I haven't lost a snake, but I'm fairly certain if that will happen, it will be buried by the hamsters.

Another good option is donating your pet to a research facility. When my dad's 11 year old cat died several years ago, we donated her body to the vet school at the UIUC. If she can help up-and-coming vets learn how to care for our beloved pets, then I think that is a great way to wrap up her life. I am constantly trying to get things donated to my school here in Appleton so we can use them in our various dissection, parasitology, comparative anatomy, genetics, etc. classes and research projects. In fact, we're getting a bunch of herps from a huge raid in Racine, WI, soon, which I am excited about.

I realize many pet owners would not want their pet being used in this way, but for every deceased animal that is donated, that is one less animal that must be bought and killed for the purpose. Just something to think about.
