Re: BoaBarn Feedback
JUst a simple question: Is it not possible for a bp that eats rats well to just go off of them, especially if you change their environment? I ask because the assumption is that if the breeder said the snake east rats and the snake won't for the new owner, the breeder must have been lying. But, in my limited experience, snakes WILL suddenly stop eating rats and only want mice. 50% of my snakes have done that. ; (I have two... )
So, rather than assume the breeder lied, why not assume the snake changed?

this snake went from supposedly eating rats to being a problem feeder period!
in the 50 snakes i have ive never seen one that went from eating rats to barely eating 1 mouse every few weeks. in over 2 years this snake will refuse sometimes months at a time.
i have seen them just want mice but they still eat weekly.

Re: BoaBarn Feedback
Well, I'm sorry that your snake is a tough feeder. I really stress about that with ours.
To be fair, I still think it could have been only the change of environment or some other factor that put the snake off food. Or it could have been a tough feeder from the start. There's no way to know for sure. But again, I am sorry your snake is so picky.

Re: BoaBarn Feedback
So, did you contact Mr. Miles to let him know your dis-satisfaction? And did he offer anything (like exchanging your animal, letting you return it, etc)? And if he didn't, did you start a BOI thread, or have you just been stewing on this?
Is Mr. Miles even aware that you are unhappy with the animal that your received?

i couldnt in a timely fashion, because i didnt have a phone number and i lost my email address. when i could i posted something on fauna about the snake. which it seems some of his own workers goes there, but i have never heard or talked to him. it ate 2 times with me at first after i had put it in the earlier mentioned setup and purely just figured the snake just went to mice (like someone else mentioned)then it went down hill, so i left it at that. once i gained some more knowledge i realized that this deal was very sour. enough that it should be shared.

Re: BoaBarn Feedback
Since you've not given the seller the opportunity to make it right with you, I don't see how that makes him a bad guy? And you said he ate rats twice for you when you first got him. I doubt that he "programmed" him to eat fine for you twice, then suddenly switch to mice.
I fail to see where the seller did anything wrong. The BOI would be a great place if you have a genuine complaint that you can't get resolved man to man with the seller.
In the future, if you have a complaint about someone - posting about them in someone else's picture thread is not the place to interject. A thread down here does quite nicely.
I did a quick Google search for Paul Miles and Boa Barn and found contact information rather easily. Why don't you try contacting him now, rather than calling him out as a bad guy? Would you like someone doing the same to you if they never contacted you about their un-happiness in a deal with you and didn't give you an opportunity to respond?

i said i would not deal with him again based purely on this snake.
she never ate a rat or even showed any interest in a rat ever. it never ate fine it only ate (small mice live)the 2 times after i worked with it and stuffed a 300 gram snake in a 6qt tub and jammed 2 hides and a water bowl in the tub.
oh yea and that was about 3 weeks before i got it to eat the first time

If you have had personal or business issues with Paul I think you should e-mail him and not try to shoot down a thread which another user created simply to show his animals, I think that was very disrespectful of you. This thread was NOT about YOU or your problem but you didn't seem to care and hijacked it anyway.

Re: BoaBarn Feedback
Nixer i completly understand your frustration but with that said I would have gave Paul a chance to make it right. We recently bought a group of snakes that wont eat anything for me at the moment but i assumed due to my altitude difference and humidity difference they were just getting accustome. Cage size differance also makes a big diference like I had a super pastel and mojave eat rats once a week for about a year and then all of the sudden they would only eat mice, idk. I agree with Robin in that you should email or call paul so that he can fix the problem and you dont make others re-consider doing business with him purely on your snake only eating rats.
As I said understandable that you are upset with it eating mice, but if Paul had been notified he could have taken care of it within a week of knowing.

i agree with the fact that i should of notified him but couldnt find any contact info on him, which i know isnt his fault.
its not that it only eats mice that i couldnt blame him as some can and do switch but this snake still to this day will only eat every 2 weeks if im lucky.
