    Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!

    Man addiction must stink :/

I've done all kinds of things that I could get addicted to. Heck I tried to become an alcoholic last month ~_~ Didn't work. I smoke shisha and cigars from time to time and at one point did extremely regularly (like 8 cigars a week I think, usually like 2~4 a day and then nothing until the next weekend), but yeah I've never had to struggle with getting over an addiction. Well unless you include caffeine because that gives you a heck of a migraine when you go from 11~12 cups a day down to 0.

Well, anyway. Good luck, sounds like you're doing well already.

Are you serious about trying to become an alcoholic or was that a joke?

If you're serious, might I ask why?

    I'm all for drinking, but...

I work in a liquor store and I see people every day that obviously haven't bathed in days, scraping their pennies and nickels together to buy a can of steel reserve just to stop the shakes. It really doesn't look like fun.

Yeah I was joking I was, however, drinking every single day. Pfft, just because you don't think something isn't a joke doesn't mean it can't be joked about, it just means your sense of humor is not dark enough to handle it.

I am a fan of dark and inappropriate humor myself, so I'm not going to slam you for joking about whatever... I just wanted to know if you were indeed joking or not.

    Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!

    Will do, thank you.

So today is day 3 of no smoking. I did great the last 2 days. I did break down and I had half a cigarette today, but I had a VERY good reason.

It means I'm a recovered drug addict. It means addiction had nearly taken away my life. It means if I had not changed I would be dead right now. It means that when I hear someone joking about trying to become an addict on purpose it makes me very upset. It means I'm going to say something about it.

Child neglect. Broken homes. Violent crime. Prison. Spouse abuse. Severe health problems. Overdose. Suicide.

Pardon me if I'm not "dark" enough to find the humor in that.

    Do it!

I smoked for 15 years and quit on my first attempt.

I havent smoked since January 1st.

First 2 weeks are hard but then it is a breeze after that.

    Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!

You go girl! I gave up smoking about 10 years ago. It took many tries, but I finally won. Expect to learn to live with the cravings, they don't go away for a very long time. Putting the money in a jar is a great idea. Reward yourself for hanging in there. Once you quit, don't pick up another cigarette, no matter what. The cravings will come right back threefold and you'll be back at square one. But don't throw in the towel either. Having one is not the end, just a reminder to keep trying. You'll smell better in no time LOL! I never realized how bad my things smelled until I quit. Yuck! Good Luck!
