Wow thats crazy, I found a guy sellin a 300 gallon chicken tank too, that I just bought, we must be neighbors, were gonna have the same set-up, we should have a bet who gets more pieds out of our normals. SWEETNESS!!

Yo bailey, finally, someone on this forum who is willing to answer my questions. Here goes. I really wanna' be a big time breeder, and already have a website, T-shirts, cool beenie hats, and rear window stickers for my truck. No since in waiting till the last minute for stuff like that. Anyway, last weekend I purchased a 300 gallon tank at the flea market that some guy had been using to raise live chickens in. Guy said he kept them in his living room or something like that. I'm sure he was telling the truth because the inside of the tank is crusted with chicken poop and stuff. I don't plan on cleaning it because the snakes are gonna' mess it up anyway, right?

I went to three different PetSmarts and bought 14 Normal ball pythons. I can keep them all in the same tank, right? I mean, it should be plenty big enough, and the petstore guy said ball pythons like to have a lot of room to move around. While I was there, I also picked up a 25 watt UV bulb becasue that's what the petstore guy said I needed. So, about my snakes, I don't know what sex they are, but since they know, I figure I don't have to worry to much about it. Nature will take it course, right? What kinds of morphs do you think I'll be able to get out of my Normals? I'm hopping for Pie Balds and Caramel Albino Pinstripe Pastels. I can make a lot of money with those!

I did a bunch of research and found out that ball pythons are nocturnal. That works out perfect for me because I do shift work, and I can stay up all night long with all the lights on watching them do interesting stuff. The petstore guy told me my 300 gallon tank was perfect because ball pythons love to climb. The tank is big enough for a whole tree branch, so I cut one out of the pine tree in my back yard and threw that bad boy in there. The sap coming out of it should really give my ball pythons some traction for climbing, and it matches my pine shaving substrate.

The petstore guy said all my snakes are "08's", whatever that means, but should be breeding up a storm by next week. What do you think?

I also need some feeding suggestions. Since I'm a total vegan, I can't stand the thought of feeding rodents to my snakes, so I just leave big globs of peanut butter in the tank. I figure when they get hungery enough, they'll switch over with no trouble at all. Can you think of anything better than peanut butter. I also thought about cat food and Goldfish crackers. Let me know what you think.

My husbandry is good to go. Right now, I have all 14 snakes in the same tank, and my cool side is 68 degrees (funny, that's the same temp as my house) and my warm side, with the 25 watt bulb is 68.5 degrees. I know my temps are accurate because I bought several analog temp thingys that stick on the glass. My humidity is really good too because I use a garden hose and put about a half inch of water in the bottom of the tank every couple of days. The snakes love it. I know because everytime I do it they all slither around and climb over eachother. Just a big happy family!!!

Oh yeah, two more questions, why do they all have bubbles coming out their noses and make wheezing noises? Is that some kind of mating ritual? And, what are all the little black things crawling around in the tank.

I need to step in before the OP answers and let you know that you should never feed your BP Peanut Butter, this may cause and allergic reaction and your pet will end up with an anaphylactic shock. But any way you always can give them a shot of EpiPen or Benadryl.

And fot the Black things crawling around just get a Chameleon and he will take care of them, also the BP's will have a budy to visit and hang out while they are in the branches.

Don't be ridiculous. Peanuts originated in africa. The ball python comes from africa, therefor peanut butter is perfectly fine for them to eat. Not to mention they will have even better traction with peanut butter, and any sap that sticks to them will come RIGHT off with peanut butter.
The little black things are symbiotic and necasary for the health of a large well-established colony. You should put turtles in the bottom, they will eat the snake poo.
