    Nope not breeding for genetics at all. all babies will be in CO2 at 5 weeks old

    I love the bin idea. We currently have 5( 4 f 1 m) in a 40g tank with a wood and small chicken wire lid. For extra room we added a old hamster cage to the top so they an get fresh air. We have a hairless so pregnant she can't jump to the top now. I'll use the rubbermade idea for the males tank.Thanks!

    Keep in mind hairless females often do not lactate, or don't make very much, and generally make poor breeders because of their higher maintenance needs.

    When breeding hairless rats most breeders try to keep another female(regular w/hair) who is pregnant to help take over the nursing. Like said before Hairless rats barely produce milk if any.

    Well She had 10 Babies today around 230 or so. so today was day 23 and he did mate her the 17th 2nd day of bring her home. doing very well. a bit nippy when i was giving her more bedding but that's all good.


    Picture is of her and another male(not father). this male went right ot her side through the whole birthing and will not leave her side since. the father is with a diff girl.

    If she doesn`t do well with nursing I`ll cull her litter and feed my corns or turtle.
