I give all of my normals away male or female. Sometimes if I am lucky I can trade them to a local rodent breeder for a small rat but sometimes I can't even get that. I am hoping to produce almost no normals within the next 2-3 years.

I would definately consider giving male normals away to newbees to herping. A great way to help build the hobby if you think about it. A lot of people get hooked buying their first male ball python from a pet store for a rediculous price. Then they come here and feel silly at the price they paid for a normal. Regardless of that the normal is what got them hooked and now they are buying low end morphs and some even start with high end morphs. (Our second snake purchase was a female bumble bee.) Regardless of what they get interested in it all helps the hobby.

Re: Would anyone else here be willing to give away free snakes?
I look at my current and future hobby breeding projects as something that has an overall goal; which is to, 1) year-by-year, breed and produce variations of morphs that I enjoy, and 2) sell whatever does not fit into my plans (or my tub space)...
...With that said, there always seems to be "an extra snake" that I can give away, with the only condition that I know (as much as anyone can know) that it will be taken well care of.
In fact, I have recently given away male and female normals, each to different friends of mine, including full tank setups with all the goodies.
Would I give away a morph? That might be a different story, but I would consider it for the right person, whom I would have to know well.

Hey thats what i did!
I got hooked too, only the pet shop sold me a girl. When I do start breeding I would gladly give some away to someone who would love and care for it.
When I tell people I have a BP most say "ewww" but a few start asking questions, I will point them here and tell them all the things you learn.
After a 4 hour dicussion with a friend of my husband and me, and his wife. (he likes snakes and wants one but she has only heard the horror stories) They have asked me to "hold one back" when I do start breeding.
As long as they are willing to buy the proper setup and show me its all ready, the will get the surprise that the baby they get is free.

I've always been a fairly generous giver, so I usually end up giving away all sorts of things. I try and take good care of my friends.

You want to give me some balls? that's great I'll tell you where to send them lol! If they were corn snakes I'd say give me a few dozen they are so easy to care for. Both my girls ate as soon as they came home!
Too many pets to list!
