I want to touch it. A lot. O_o It's kind of confusing looking. Because I want to touch it, but I don't, but I do.

i still think it looks like a pathetic animal. If it was just some kinda "freak of nature" snake, one of kind, not being produced, I wouldnt think it was too bad. I just think alot of complications could come up with a snake missing scales. And lessons will probably be learned along the way in trying to breed it in the expense of the animals.

    I'm not too sure see...
We are scaleless, and we get along fine.
    Hairless rats get along fine.
Moles, with virtually no hair, survive fine..

The only thing that would need to be worried about is burning, which shouldn't happen at proper temperatures anyway. It would probably also be fed f/t.
If the animal is healthy, and doesn't have problems without scales, what is wrong with it?

People thought snakes were a 'freak of nature' when they first saw them, I mean come on... how many stories tell of the snake being evil? People tend to fear what they do not understand.

If this snake is not healthy, and cannot survive well and thrive in a proper environment, then I think it should never be bred or produced.
If not, I have no problem with it.

I don't know, if the animal is ok then I'm fine with that. The animal has the right to live just as well as a scaled snake. Breeding it to get more and knowing they have problems with something altogether different though. I'm not saying they have problems at all, I'm just saying I wouldn't breed anything with health problems. Looks cool to me though.

    Re: Scaleless BP

It's the "Purple Haze" produced by Eugene Bessette. There was an episode of Reptile Radio where he talked about it a little bit. He produced it himself and believes it to be recessive. Not the same as the derma ball. The derma ball had patches of scales here and there, this one is completely scaleless, just like the scaleless corn and rat snakes out there. It eats, poops, and sheds just fine. If I remember right, it's a female so it will be a couple years before she's bred back to the father.

of course we are scaleless lol..weve never had them...
moles , which are almost hairless are like that in the wild,
    its an evolution thing.

im just not too into changing and playing around with genetics to the point where you are changing the basics of an animal. snakes have scales. cats have fur. humans have hair. thats just the hippy in me talking I guess.

it has nothing to do with being scared or not understanding etc to me. it just is not a snake to me. its just a silly project to change something thats already fine.

    Re: Scaleless BP

There are fur-less cats...at least one member on here has one (or will soon)

I think if it can eat and grow just fine, what's wrong with it.

It's not something that we have "created". No one has modified the genes of this animal past breeding it...which means that this snake is 'genetically modified' just like the pied or the albino. It isn't any more of a freak than any of the other morphs, it's just that instead of changing the color or pattern, it has changed the scales.

I wonder is that the same derma ball that has been posted before? Its a different pic than I have seen and looks more....scaleless. Poor things I though they died like the pearls. I think it was the pearl that dies.
