You can change your avatar as a regular user, but you'll have to choose from a list of avatars that we have loaded here. Once you reach BP.net Veteran status, you can change it to a more personalized one.
Everyone currently will be grandfathered in and can keep their current avatar, which is why we're giving a grace period to change it now if you wish.
Yeah, I know, I was just wondering if it's just meant to keep down server space and bandwidth.
