    My New Normal BP

Hello everyone I have a new BP. I received him from one of my co workers friends was tired of taking care of this BP and I took him in. He is about 3" to 3 1/2" long. I do not know if that is a great way to tell how old he is. I have had him about three weeks now. he has not ate yet but i am really not worried. It will come in time. When I first got him he was kind of really really dried out his whole body. He is now moist and really active at night. I changed the substrate and went through a little changes with the old UTH and put new stuff ( which is probably the reason for not eat) so I am trying my best going bit by bit. A lot of info i have received came from here. I really appreciate all the info. I will post pictures tomorrow so to keep stress down as much as poss. any info humidity is staying around 50-55 and temps are maintaing around 80-85 and his hot spot- Havent really measured that temp recently. he is doing much better since being here with me so I know something I am doing is right. He is supposed to be a little moist on his body right???

Stan has never been moist when I pick him up.

How are you measuring the temp / humidity?

I have not really picked him up in a while with him being new. He was just moist to my touch on his body. It could of been that he was in the bowl eariler that is possible. I did not see him in the bowl but. At first I had the stick on thermo. THEY DO NOT WORK. so I went to the probe type thermo.

Yea, those stick on ones are inaccurate and measure temps at the wrong place.

Do you have the probe with the probe on the ground on the hotside (usually against the glass)?

The probe is measuring your humidity too?

I am a new owner as well, But from what I understand you should probly leave the light on at night to maintain the temperature around 90 degrees. It will not disrupt the snakes normal activities. If I understand correctly the snake does not need to have lower temperatures at night. I would just leave the light on.

    Re: My New Normal BP

please do not leave the light on all the time. ambient light should be enough. if there is not much ambient light only give him light for 12hrs no more. if you need to keep the heat on at night i would suggest getting a ceramic heat emitter(che).
