Interesting idea for hide box(es)

People on this forum recommend having two identical hiding places in the cage, one on the warm side and one on the cool side.

What if you take a large hide box, put a divider in the middle (I don't know what the easiest way of securing it would be) and putting it on the division line of the warm and the cool side.

Then you have one hide box acting as two...

I'm not sure if the gradient would be big enough though, but I thought it would be an interesting idea.

I think it would be potentially useful for small tubs, say 6 or 12 qt's (maybe), but would probably just take up too much space and be kind of awkward.

BPs also appreciate tight and dark spaces. A hide box like that may be too roomy.

I think it would be neither hot nor cold. It would be the temps in the center and have no gradient.
That's why the hides in either end, to give a choice of the warmer or colder ends, and putting a hide in the center(even if it's a divided hide) defeats the purpose. Might as well put a single hide in the center then.
Just opinion, I think two hides, in either end accomplishes the goal.

Oh I assumed the hide box would span the distance of the tank since most heat gradients utilize the entire enclosure. But now I see why you said, "I'm not sure if the gradient would be big enough though."
