    Re: What to get next...

I think you should get one that's not a replica.....or none

Granted, my boyfriend collects guns and I'm not for that either. But he said "if you get your snakes, then I get my guns" *sigh* I had to compromise. However, he just traded a small shot gun for a gun I was actually excited about. It's a 1943 Russian Rife used in WWII and being's that I love history I was the one telling him to buy it. So maybe I could warm up to the idea of collecting swords

If your looking for cheap and want something you can actualy jump into battle with get one from Paul Chen. I have 9 of his swords and you can cut down trees with them.
I have 7 swords from Cold Steel which seem to hold an edge better then any.
    Here is some good reading
    http://www.sword-manufacturers-guide...ei-swords.html
Paul Chen is among the best sword-manufacturers in the world, and his products aren't that cheap. I won't get anything above $50 (and that includes shipping). If you found something in my price range, then I'll look into it.

Isis: Come on, what do you have against them anyway? I'm not specifically looking for anything sharp, and replica firearms are usually above $50 and anything lower is never worth the money. Besides, the house would be well protected, and plus if I'm just mounting these things my future wife probably wouldn't mind (as long as she doesn't mind replicas AND 2 snakes), and if she does, I can sell them (the replicas, not the snakes) and make a few bucks.

By the way, has anyone here bought from brothersmith-swords.com ? I've actually asked Paul Chen himself but I also want to know what you think of them.

And make sure to read the low-down before you vote!

    How much yer' offering?

P.S. It might look like I voted, but that's just so I don't have to click on the "View Poll Results" link every time I want to see the stats. That vote doesn't count.

The Naval Cutlass is has a blade made of 5160 high carbon steel . Does this mean that it's better than the other options?

Ehem. If there's 96 active users right now, I'm sure one of them can answer the quoted question.

    Re: What to get next...

    Hi,

Did we get changed from a snake forum to a metallurgy forum while I was asleep?

May I suggest a swift google instead? - or you could email the maker and ask his opinion maybe?

I think the answer will also depend on what you expect the metal to be able to withstand during the lifetime of the sword - are you going to be fighting with full force blade to blade contact or will it spend eternity sitting on a stand for example?

I did a google sweep as suggested-2160 CBS is the best stuff BUT only if forged correctly. I asked Larry Smith about that and he did answer pretty fast. Apparently, it wasn't forged by a famous company. Chances are it came from a mass-producing factory in India. I guess that would make it like all the rest then.

P.S. You mods get thanked way too easily!
