He's just over 6ft. When I weigh him I have to weigh him with a "human" scale because the kitchen scale can't handle anything over 2000g. So it's not very accurate, but he's about 4400g.. probably about 10lbs.
thats awesome man. i feel like you told me this in a pm already but what size cage do you keep him in? is it that pvc cages 3x2x2? have you had him from a baby? was he always that color? do you have any pictures of you holding him? jw because i cant picture a 6 foot 10lb snake because im so new to this hobby. he looks amazing man nice work!!

I'll answer the questions in order...

    1) I keep him in a 3x2x2 Animal Plastics cage (www.animalplastics.com). I got a radiant heat panel shipped in from Pro-Products, which is probably the best RHP maker. The cage comes with the shelf. Check out this thread:

    http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...t=81975&page=1

    2) I got him in August when he was 4 years old. I didn't want a baby because I'd have to keep giving him new cages as he grew (baby snakes shouldn't be kept in large cages)

    3) He's been that color since I had him Baby carpets are usually not very attractive snakes; they get their color as they mature

    4) I'll send some pics of me holding him in a PM

oh i see. so how old is he now? did you say you got him from ACreptiles? how much did he run you if you dont mind me asking? you could pm me that if you want

idk i guess its just me but a 3x2x2ft cage seems to small for a 6ft snake. idk much about these things though. does he use the perch or shelf much now that hes full grown? ive read theyre really arboreal when young but become more ground dwellers when they mature.

he is so freakin awesome lookin man

I didn't get him from Anthony Caponetto at ACReptiles because I wanted an adult.

If you go to Kingsnake.com you can go to the classifieds page and look at pythons. I searched months and months and a guy in Dallas had this guy for $400 shipped.

I installed the perch last week, and he's only been on it a few times. The shelf he uses VERY often. Especially now that I cooled his cage down. I think he likes the shelf better because it supports his body more..

As for cage size, 3x2x2 is recommended for Carpets as larger cages can stress a snake out. Anthony Caponetto uses these cages, but then 15" high, for carpets up to 8+ feet in length. Monty (my JCP) also rarely goes to the left side of the cage, so it doesn't seem like he needs more room.

oh i see. damn i wish they werent that expensive. can you get an IJ for less? maybe i better stick with a ball, i was willing to pay 250 for a pastel. idk about 400 for a snake though. i guess i could get a baby jcp and house in something cheap like a tub while i make his real home from scratch. id like to do that, i saw a thread where someone made one out of an old tv. tiled the whole inside and it turned out awesome

You can get them for 250... but I got lucky with Monty's pattern/coloration for only 400...

Dutchherp, jungles tend to prefer perches with a 3-point contact. If you install a perch with a Y shape, they are more likely to spend their time on it.
