In my opinion this is the issue. The whole granite thing is in need an overhaul.
For quite some time a bunch of snakes have been lumped together as granites. I think it will take some time to see which ones are genetic, which animals have "super" forms, and which ones need a "name change".
To me at least a couple lines of the homozygous "granites" look different. I suspect will see more differences as it all gets sorted out.
I have three different animals that I refer to as granites. Two were imported animals and I have very little knowledge on their pattern of inheritance. One is a genetic granite. Years ago, I would have cruised over all three and said..."Granite, granite, granite." Now I am not so sure. Subtle things make me think that I might have two or three different things going on.
Time will tell.
