Well, from age of 14 to 17 i always had a "skinhead" (1/4 to 1 inch), because i was a little redskin/punk whatever and i really loved it to be diffrent from all the little popkids in my class, before that i had really long hair and the change was quite significant...But i have to add, I had more sucsess with the girls and less trouble "in the streets" with folks who wanted to rip a hippie off (went to the gym 5 times a week and started boxing back then, maybe this helped too).
Than I kept my hair at a moderate length for two years, but when I had to do my duty in the army I shaved my head again and kept it for another two years, because I was hanging out with sXe-Hardcore Kids and Hiphopheads as well and in both groups it was cool.
Nowadays I would love to get a nice firm suedehead again, but I think my customers would not appreciate it...
