I want a leo but don't know jack!

Hey everyone! A girl i know has a couple of leo she needs out of her house, and I want them but I don't know much about them. She has 2 in a 10 gallon and they look like adults. They don't look like they are being properly taken care of, another reason I want them...But shes giving me a 10 gallon tank, heat light, heat pad, and coupld of hides. It also has that blue calci-sand or w.e it is in it. Now I've been reading UTH's are the way to go with these guys, but i normally have BP's and they need a thermostat, will these guys be alright without one? Also what should ambient temps be cuz my house is a little cold in the winter? So yeah any help would be much appreciated!!! What I was going to do was seperate them in a 10 gallon each, UTH for each tank, not sure on the substrate yet, hides, water dish,thermometer, and i think thats it? I don't know what any of the levels should be amb temps, bask temps, humidity levels, all that, HELP!!!

always use a thermostat always you dont want fried reptiles (unless your in the kicthen) and two females can be housed together just fine

Leo's are easy to care for, they can eat about 5 dusted crickets a day no bigger then the width between their eyes.They don't need overhead heat as long as it's warm in your house, belly heat is fine. They need UVB unless they can get some direct sunlight.

Dusting is very important with leos, es

They need to be sprayed a few time a week, they eat the skin that is shed so you may never actually get to see them shed. Seperating them is a good idea for leos because like any other animal, one will try to dominate the other. Look at the tails, they should be nice a thick because this is where the fat is stored. You will also see the tail is segmented as well, so never grab them by the tail.

I could go on and on haha. Ummm, I have learned all of this through past experiences, (and not a good one, which I ended up losing the leo) with one I took in and had for about 2 years and read stuff I would have never even thought of.

Your right patrick!! Leopard geckos can't have direct sunlight in their tank it will act like a incubator and roast them!! Also UVB will blind them as it was proven that it will blind them and also I would have a red or black light in there instead of normal light bulbs! Also make sure espessially if you get baby leopard geckos that you dust there crickets every day as the babies are prone to MBD that won't nesserary kill them but will deform their legs, jaw or tail as I have had this happen if you don't give them calcium!! Patrick that was good that you pointed that info out cause that could of harmed or killed a leopard gecko!!

I apologize for saying UVB or direct sunlight, I just replied to a thread about bearded dragons and yea anyways, I apologize. I had a leo a while ago that passed on due to being mistreated and I never had UV anything on the tank, only a UTH.

I like the sound of the tub idea! I can't stand aquariums for some reason lol. Ever since I got into balls and found out that sterilite tubs can be used, I think its the greatest thing in the world. But now that caresheet said to use sand, now how come every other site says not to use sand? Ok heres what im doing someone correct me if I'm wrong please...Getting a 32qt tub, soldering some holes, laying some paper towel down, attaching UTH with rheostat, and setting up misc things in tank. Now being that im using a rheostat, the temp is going to fluxuate, are these guys really sensitive with temps? I mean its probably going to range from like 88-96 degrees, are those safe temps? Again thermostats are kinda expensive, and I don't have the money right now for one. Also the one dude said feed 5 dusted crickets a day, does that sound right as well?
