Re: Hatched this one out today...

Thanks all. I have two more eggs from another clutch sitting in the incubator that should hatch out around the beginning of the year and hopefully some more eggs on the way too. I have a completely empty old Rare Earth Freedom Breeder dwarf monitor rack that needs to be filled up so hopefully I can manage to hatch a few more out

Between the tristis, ackies, and storrs monitors that I keep....the tristis have been by far the easiest to care for. They would be my #1 pet monitor, but they are a little shy compared to ackies....and very very fast

This baby is a blackheaded monitor (v. tristis tristis) which is also know as the mournful goanna by some. They get to be about the same body size as Ackies, but have longer tails and a different personalities.

Here is a shot of mom with a belly fully of fuzzy mice(and hopefully eggs ):

Blackheaded monitors are a great first monitor. Care is just the same as any other small monitor.

If you are interested in getting one, I would check out kingsnake.com's classifieds. I believe Doug Price of Price Animal Company has some for sale now. Other than Doug not many people consistantly produce offspring.
