They pee when together.
I placed my male spider with my normal female tonight. After a few hours either one or the other or both have peed in the enclosure. This happens everytime I put them together. Is there any sign to this? Is it normal behavior? Any answers would be greatly apprecited. Thanks.

Yeah- they're laying their scent hoping to get the engines running
Mine usually poo too Leave it in there and let the scent do its thing

Normally it means that the female is not ready.

Really? I was thinking it was the girl cleaning out her pipes so the sperm gets to the right location. I have seen a few girls get rid of urates within minutes of the boy going inthe tub. Then they are locked up a couple hours....

I have also had them poo. havnt had any lockups yet so was wondering if they were rejecting eachother. MPenn could be on the right track as far as not being ready. my female is of weight but could lack the age. Bought her from a reptile store and the guy kinda guessed how old she was. any other opinions welcome. Thanks for everyones responses.

It doesn't really have to be her age. She may not "have been programmed" or cycled to be ready for breeding.
I mean, think about it really, in the human world, the male is always ready but the female has to be wined and dined and put in the mood.
You might want to try some Barry White. It has a 97% success rate.
Cleaning her pipes?? That's a good one.

MPEnn... Could you please explain "Cycled"? If by that you mean lowering nitetime temps, I do that. Thanks

Cycling is more than just lowering the temps. It is also changing the photoperiod, making sure that she is of adequate weight, and had time to cool.

Yeah. This has not been my experience at all
I have followed all that you mention above and have had two snakes pee and poo all over the place and then lock up for over 12 hours. This has happened several times when placing different pairs together.
I really believe it has everything to do with laying down pheromones.
