MAC users breeding software

I agree with MATTI. Best bet is to install Windows via Boot Camp and run programs that way. I haven't yet been able to find a OS X native reptile record keeping application. Excel or Numbers are your only choice for running native apps as far as I know. Otherwise it's dual-booting or emulation software.

The only place I haven't looked yet is sourceforge. There are tons of open-source projects there for all operating systems. Might be able to put in a request or start a discussion and find some other interested parties over there. I'll check up on it.

I found this, but it doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. No working software, and it doesn't look like it has been updated for quite some time. I'll keep looking though.

So you switched to a company that makes you purchase hardware and software together. The same company that puts a virtual $500 "Apple Tax" on its machine just because it caries their logo? The company that ran itself on the pride of having fewer viruses than Windows .. then switches to Intel processors and slaps XP on it's machines? The company the believes everyone should be treated like a criminal thus still uses DRM on the music bought through its 'iTunes" music store? Where functionality takes a back seat to design?

Don't get me wrong, if I were in the market for a laptop, Apple would get a serious look from me. What I am saying is that Microsoft and Apple both do a lot of things right, but both equally do stuff wrong. The only difference is that Apple has a cult to back them up at all times, and Microsoft lost that along time ago.

Weelllll...actually Macs are far more precise when it comes to graphics, video editing and music editing, among many more things. Take a look at Garage Band, it's a simple music editing software by Mac that doesn't cost a arm and all your snakes. Have you ever tried to design a magazine or logos on a PC?....The precision of the Mac and mouse movement dawggs a PC any day. Trust me I know it's what I've done for the past 10 years...well ever since I stepped away for a PC. I never looked back...there was no need to. Now don't get me wrong PCs have their place in the world but mainly for internet surfing and your basic data worksheets and logging etc. All of which the Mac is taking over also. "Face it if it's not a Mac it isn't smack."

I've been involved with Actionscript for a little while now, and I'm working on making my way over to Actionscript 3.0, which integrates in with Flex and/or Adobe Air.

I have the idea to create an Adobe Air application which can keep track of reptile records. Adobe Air is essentially an application that can run on both Mac and PC - so programming the application once would mean it could run on either platform. It's new technology that's just now catching on.

My knowledge with Actionscript 3 and Flex is not very advanced, so if anyone else does have the knowledge, I'm sure this would be a great tool that a lot of people would use. I know there are also ways to make changes that will also automatically update an online web page - so if it was programmed in a way that when you mark an animal as "sold" on your local computer, it would automatically update your web site too.
