Many will say tape is a no no. So if you do this do so at your own risk. Personally If I have heavy hides, I place the probes in the hide, being help down by the hide. All my snakes except the BP burrow and do not have heavy hides. I too use foil tape on some cages, but prefer aquarium sealant when possible. Tape would bad should it ever stick to a snake.
Having used foil tape in the field (work), I personal feel safe with the small pieces I have applied to a clean glass surface and completely affixed it making sure to have no air bubbles. Every thorough cleaning I add new tape. I have never even had a small end pulled up in two years.
Again aquarium sealant is safer and non-toxic, just takes a while to cure. Tape can be risky so USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

why not just use the RHP and hang the probe directly underneath it? or if your ambient temp is around 78-80 then use only the UTH and use foil tape to fix the probe directly to the UTH.
if youre going to use both heating elements wouldnt you need two themostats to properly control them anyways?

I have heard of controlling flexwatt, same sime tape and enclosures. So I t-stat with identicle heating sources that are set to same temp should be ok, but use tanks, so not sure. With a RHP and a UTH I would use two t-stats. Perhaps someone can explain how to use one. Minus that explanation I would use two.

You can't use one t'stat to control a RHP and flex watt as they don't 'talk' to each other well. You need either two t'stats or a Herpstat II or Herpstat Pro

Re: Any sugestions on how to keep thermostat probe 'in place' in my tank???
there are thermostats that can control multiple heating elements of different types. i am assuming that the OP is using a t-stat that doesnt have that option but i could be wrong. if this is the case then it would be difficult to regulate temps within the enclosure if the OP is using one t-stat for two different types of elements with different wattages. if he was using multiple strips of heat tape, same size, length and wattage then sure one t-stat would be fine. thats why im wondering if it is necessary for the OP to use both elements to successfully heat the enclosure because if it is then i think he would need an extra thermostat.

I use window clings. Buy them just about anywhere and they work really well and theres nothing to stick to the snake should they burrow onto it
