A Very Different Albino

What a crazy clutch!!! Those axanthic looking ones are REALLY weird! How are they so silver and still not an axanthic! Weird! Seeing that albino next to the other three....WOW!!!! I want her!!!!

It's a blush albino.
The axanthic looking ones are het albinos.
The "blush" line is the only one where the het albinos are visually different as hatchlings. They will look normal after a few sheds.
The albino will have yellow bleeding all over it.

My het blush albino was different at hatching as well.....turned a rather greenish tint for a while, then they turn normal.

Hey Albey,
Ive actually heard of this happening often with breeding het to het albinos together. Some times the albinos come out pure white with the axanthic colored sibs, and the breeder thinking they hit the odds and made a snow. Later on the normal ones would turn back to normal later, and the albino back to well, an albino!

Hey Matt, thank you for your explanation on this. I never had any doubt it was just a regular Albino and I already knew the Axanthic looking ones would turn normal looking as I had previously hatched out a clutch of them in 2006. I posted a picture of that very clutch later on in this post. When I hatched out that 2006 clutch I sent a message to Brian telling him I had missed the odds on producing an Albino and also asking about the Axanthic looking ones. Here is the email he sent to me.

Hey Albey,I'm so bumded to hear that you didn't have any Albinos. I guess sometimes I pass on some of my luck with odds. It seems like I'm the only one that has stuff like that happen to me. Anyway, in this case I wish my luck would have stayed with me instead of you. As for the "axanthicy" looking animals. This seems to be a little common with het Albinos from some lines. That's where Kevin from NERD produces his faded Albinos from. They aren't really axanthic, but are maybe "hypo" axanthic. They do seem to get more color with age, but still seem to look a little different. I hope that sheds a little light on those babies.

SPJ that is very interesting information. As I mentioned earlier in the post I kept one of the Female Axanthic looking offspring from the clutch in 2006 and also one of the Normal looking ones. The Axanthic looking one lost the Axanthic look after a few sheds and now looks totally normal. Is there any chance that the Normal looking hatchlings are also Het For Albino or are only the Axanthic looking ones?

Yellow Blush Albino, looks almost like a Snow when hatched and the siblings that are Yellow Blush hets look axanthic, sorta greenish. The Yellow Blush should turn more and more yellow as it ages.

And, the Yellow Blush Hets should look normal after a few sheds. Make sure you keep them seperated and labeled as Yellow Blush Hets.

Thats very cool Albey, Hypoxanthic babies. Maybe you should work those into another axanthic line to see if it intensifies the axanthic look, or maybe work it into a cinnamon or pastel line to see if it makes a good modifier. I think it would be a fun project.

Are those babies 66% possible hets? Or are they 100% hets?
