An 8 yr old girl's BP died 2 days after she got it, help replace it =)
They live in Acworth, GA and recently bought a normal BP at the reptile expo here a couple weeks ago. They aren't sure what happened but noticed that it kept opening its mouth like it wanted air and died 2 days later. It was for their 8 year old daughter and she used $$$ she saved up to buy it. She's pretty upset and they are now looking for another normal BP that they can get for $30 or less. If any of you know anyone, or are willing to sell a normal BP for that price, and you live in GA. Please reply. Thank you!!!!

Now not to sound like an arse or anything here but I'm pretty sure before anyone here sells an 8 year old a snake they're gonna want to know that the parents are going to be responsible and make sure that the snake is well taken care of and the husbandry is the way it's supposed to be...... I'm assuming you know these people and have seen the set-up and all?

What he said. If the set-up can be verified, I'm sure a replacement could be found easily. I don't have any hatchlings available, only subadult or adult males. Perhaps they need a more established animal(maybe not as big as a subadult, but not a hatchling?)
When they noticed it "gasping" did they consider taking it to a vet? Sounds like it had a RI.

I havent seen their set up, but I do know they already have a BP. I doubt they are going to let her be solely responsible. "Here is a mouse honey, now go feed your snake,"

An 8 year old should not be the only one responsible for keeping and caring for a snake. The parents should be the sole responsible ones for the snake and teach their child what it takes to be a responsible pet owner and all the work and money it cost to keep one. Sorry to hear that the snake died, but I don't know anyone on here that will just give an 8 year old a pet and go on with their marry way.
Like Adam said above, do the parents know anything about keeping a snake? etc etc.... Also do they have a herp vet on hand if another snake they get, gets sick instead of just letting it suffer and die? I would not get a 8 year old or a new herp owner a hatching BP. Sometimes it's better to start off with a older one who doesn't have any issues.
