    I'm using it in my new rack system and I know people who use it in theirs without issue, other than the fact that it is heavy. It likely wouldn't hurt to use a sealant on it though.

    a guy on another forum said he uses vinyl film like for car graphics and signs. it comes in many widths and is farily cheap. I think thats the route im going.....im trying to stay away from paints and such.

    no i did not seal mine i did put a tile top on the work area. but if i do have any swelling problems i will remove the bad levels and replace them with sealed mdf. but only time will tell.
