    Python Security Measures

    Hello everyone

I was just wondering what ya'll use for security measures to make sure your investments are safe.

I recently kicked out two tenants of mine who were just not good people. I found out they were thieves and druggies and now I am paranoid that they are going to try to steal my snakes.

I was going to try to put some bars in front of the tubs and lock them in but that would require a bit of disassembling of my racks.

I was also looking at hidden nanny cams. Something that looks like a normal clock that I could just leave on top of my rack. I realize this wont stop them from stealing anything but at least I can have pictures of them doing it if they even think about it.

Not to mention I am going to get deadbolts on my doors because one of the tenants has shown me multiple times how proficient he is at circumventing the locks already on the doors.

What do ya'll use for security measures to make sure nothing will go missing? What about insurance? How do I go about insuring something like this and what would it cost me? Would I be able to get a restraining order for something like this? They have already stolen things from me but I really have no way to prove it. Help please!!

A large gun collection and making the neighborhood think you're not all there works for me.

    Re: Python Security Measures

Well I fall into both of those catergories haha, but I want as little attention on me as possible. Not to mention I dont really live in a neighborhood so that makes it more difficult. Its not even like I have any neighbors who could tell me if any cars went into my driveway.

My mother is friends with a state cop in my area and we are having dinner with him and his wife tonight at my mothers house. I am going to talk to him as to the best possible solution to these two. If it comes down to it i'm thinking about talking to a detective and having them arrested for the drugs anyways.

So far the only good solution I can think of is the camera. I am not home alot as I work constantly so I need to have eyes on my stuff for me at all times. I was looking around and found a cool camera for like 400 bucks. Money I wanted to go towards this years breeding projects but I guess I wont have any projects if my snakes get stolen.

I hate having to deal with this sh**

Well telling a cop that someone uses drugs, probably wont get them arrested. Sorry to burst the bubble.

But telling the cop your worries, that may help

You are not the first to be worried about your collection, and there have been plenty of animals stolen in the past several years.

You need to protect yourself and your collection by doing whatever you can. A Camera is good, bolting the doors and windows is also good.

The biggest issue that you brought up is insurance. I don't know how many people bring it up, but there is only one place I can think of that will insure your animals, and I believe they also insured someones legs for $500K. (Problem is, I can't find the name of the place)

It may fit under home owners insurance, but that is also a double-edged sword. Some people had their home owners insurance REVOKED because they have "dangerous animals" in the house.

So, bottom line is this. Do your research, protect your assets as much as you can, and good luck!!

    No problem.

Don't assume that you're insurance covers snakes... find out for certain. A friend of mine had a flood recently, with about 2" of standing water in the basement. It ruined all sorts of musical equipment.

He called his agent to file a claim, and was informed that since his basement was unfinished, it wasn't considered "livable space", therefore the contents coverage didn't provide for any of the equipment. He also found out that they would have written him a separate policy for the music stuff that would've cost something like $25 a year, and covered it anywhere

Yeah I realize that just telling them wont get them arrested, but im pretty sure I have enough information to get them caught doing illegal things with the drugs if you catch my drift.

Thank you for your response. I will get on the camera and new locks asap. Even the Black and White camera I am looking at is 450 big ones. It is a self contained recording camera imbedded in an alarm clock. I guess im gonna have to bite the bullet on this one.
