Long story short; the world's largest proton accelerator is set to go online next month. Some fear the colliding protons could open black holes which could do anything from destroy the earth, to destroy our atmosphere, which would basically kill us all, too.
These people are in a minority, but there are enough of them to make the news.
Do the research for yourself. It is an interesting topic that just may affect your life. But I sure hope not!
