I think it has to do more with professional courtesy. Mike Wilbanks is the one that termed the fire cross as a "firefly". Brandon bought his fire from Mike and may have got it at a discount and hence, Mike was the one who got to name it.

So if I get this right then it was Mike Wilbanks who actually produced the FireFly ( Fire x Pastel ) yeah ? Then Brandon buys a Fire ( NOT a Firefly ) and does the same breeding an calls it a Nova ?

If thats the case then I have to agree , professional courtesy should be observed. Meaning Mike got first call.

Someone renamed a morph that was already named

kinda suggests that to me here .Whether Nova fits or not is academic surely . It was already named , by the original breeder. Not wanting to upset anyone here but your almost saying ( almost)
anyone can rename the same morph to a better fitting name ( in there mind ) if the breed th esame .
