    Baytril...

I have a BP who has an advanced URI and I need to get some baytril to treat him, anyone know where I can acquire it? A good friend of mine pointed me to Revival Animal but I'm not seeing it...

Depends where you go. I just spent around $500 on a sick snake who now needs 30 days worth of antibiotics. This is why you always need to keep money aside when keeping animals. I'm glad I did considering I'm unemployed and deep in my job search.
I also think if you're not willing to pay for their healthcare why keep them... just take it to a vet.

Cost really depends on the vet. The medicine is not so bad, but the vet fees can be. Also, make sure the vet does a culture, so you can determine exactly what the underlying cause of the RI is.

I work as a vet tech, and I highly suggest taking him to your vet, or a local exotic vet and explaining the situation to them, have them simply charge you for an office visit and give you a written rx for baytril injectable, then you can purchase it online through
http://www.petrx.com/index.asp?PageA...ROD&ProdID=620 however you can't purchase it without a written rx faxed to the company from your vet. Of course, ask your vet for a correct dosage and a few syringes. Good luck

    Re: Baytril...

Some vets offer the perscriptions at fair prices, check the online sources and then compare to the vets prices, you will have to wait on shipping if you order it and if its advanced you dont want to waste any time...

I thought you needed to do a swab first to determine the type of infection given that there are more choices than just one (fortez is another I think) and each medication targets a different infection....

I'd go to the vet, have the labs done and then get the meds. Animals get sick and keepers need to deal with that.

Yep. Giving the wrong medication for the wrong ickies can make things worse. I agree, get to the vet. It doesn't cost that much, and you have the peace of mind that you did the right thing. Vet bills are an unfortunate cost of any pet ownership.
