Re: looking ahead to '09 (already) Your plans?

I'm not usually one to plan this far in advance ---waaaaay too much time between now and breeding season -- I may find something(s) at the Anaheim show that will change everything that I plan -- or someone might pop out a new cross that I just have to try for. You never know -- I reserve the right to change my mind at any time.

Re: looking ahead to '09 (already) Your plans?

Well, this will be my first season of breeding. I have one normal female with nice speckling that is already 1500+g and ready to go, and I have high hopes that my 100% het Albino girl will gain those last 400 or so grams she needs to make weight.

My main male is my 100% het Albino, but I'm hoping my pastel male will be able to breed this winter since he's been putting on weight and size like lightning. At the very least, I will be placing the het albino male with the normal girl to get some nice normal/poss hets (not sure how that one would work out, and I'm a Bio major ) and most importantly some experience breeding snakes.

This season I'm going to attempt:

    Albinos
    Fires
    Mojaves
    Pastels
    Yellow bellies

A lot of the males will be first timers so hopefully they'll get the idea.

Re: looking ahead to '09 (already) Your plans?

Im going to be trying for some albinos again Het x Het. Some Pastels, Mojaves, YB, maybe some cross of the co-doms. (Pastel mojaves, or YB mojaves) Im trying to find a male mojave if I can get one an 07 or early 08 then maybe Mojave x Mojave. Thats about it. All but one of my girls that laid this year are back up to size. Maybe Het ghost to mojave try to get some possible Het ghost mojave girls out of the breeding. Thats if the mojave female is up to size. She has a bit to go yet before shes even at 1500g. So nothing to mind blowing or anything like that, but its something.

Only a couple of crosses for me:

    Mojo x mojo
    Het Pied x same
    Pinstripe x pastel
Pastel x spider (if the spider is big enough. She's at 1000g, but currently on a feeding strike, so she better figure it out and start eating again!)

Re: looking ahead to '09 (already) Your plans?

Well, due to recent financial issues my initial plans for the year won't be able to happen this year (won't be buying at Daytona) so, if all goes well I'll get one, MAYBE two (depending on how well she gains weight) pastel x normal clutches. The girl I'm definitely introducing him to is nice and big; almost as long as I am tall, 2200g and 5 years old, so I know she's ready...it's all up to him. With him rapidly nearing 700g I'm hoping he'll be ready to go this year...but we'll see!

Good luck everybody on your clutches this year and on your plans for next year---and I'm looking forward to seeing some super cinny spiders and calicos I believe somebody mentioned. Exciting stuff everybody's looking to produce!

Re: looking ahead to '09 (already) Your plans?

Alright, here are my plans for 08. So far, I will have the animals up to size to produce:
    Pieds
    Pinstripe Het Pieds
    Clowns
    Het Clowns
    Pastel
    Bees
    Mojaves
    Albinos
    Het Albinos
    Cinnamon Pastels
    Pewters
(Things still might change, I am still putting my plans for 08 together, so a couple pairings might change, but these are some of the ones I am more confident on keeping, and lets hope the odds Gods work for me)
Custom reptile and amphibian enclosures! As well as other custom wood working.
