corn colors

ive got a 9 month old amel and i have noticed a lot of change in his coloring already in the 7 months ive had him. but i was just curious if anyone had any pics of an adult amel. i wanted to see how he could possibly look when hes older

This is a terrible pic of my corn. His saddles are not near as red as this. My old camera had a hard time with him apparently.

If what your describing is as accurate as it sounds in my mind, then our snakes are VERY similar.

Cool. The only thing would be that Apollo has all orange saddles - no red on him anywhere. Sometimes I think he could be a Hypo Amel... which would be cool since I would want to breed him to my Hypo Bloodred once she's big enough.

One cool thing about amels (and most corns) is how extremely variable they can be.

One extreme of amel is the sunglow, which have been selectively bred for bright colors and eliminating the white borders. Here is one picture.

The other end of the spectrum is the candy cane, which have been selectively bred to maximize the white and eliminate the orange. This page has pictures and also has an interesting story about the 30+ year project that it has been!

Snakes that are marketed as "just" amel will (usually) be somewhere in the middle, like those already pictured in this thread. I just think it is really cool how much variability comes from 1 gene!

Thats so true! Mine was sold to me as a sunglow, I had no idea about ANY corn colors, except that he was orange.

Afterwards, I went looking for what sunglows are, and he has a little more white than most sunglows, but I don't care. he's perdy!

I'm corn morph stoopid. So any little bit of explanation always helps. I know what I want next, a butter or a nice blizzard!

Yeah, they are really varied but still gorgeous. Apollo is my favorite corn out of 5.

And I know what I'd be looking for next as well: a sub-adult/adult female Butter, Amber, or Hypo Lavender.
