aww it looks so pretty.. pretty enough for me to have smashed if I was in your place!! Spiders are okay when they are not in my house, near me or my kids. Hopefully you weren't bitten.

I don't think I did. You can't feel it when they bite, but I haven't had any symptoms at all. Other than just a small red bump on the palm of my hand, but I think that was there before.

Last time I got bit I got swelling almost instantly, well within 30 minutes.

I will. These particular spiders really freak me out. I think its because they are so aggressive and actually chase you down.

At my old house, and it was an OLD house. The basement looked like it was just dug out from under neath the house. You could shine a light on our dirt driveway at night, and actually watch just tons of them marching up the driveway. Talk about creepy

Re: Seriously just about had a heart attack..

That is most likely a Tegenaria agrestis.
they are not agressive, nor dangerous.
there have been no confirmed reports linking tegenaria agrestis venom to necrotic lesions.
Nothing to worry about though, Tegenaria are large, beautiful, and hardy spiders.
I am particularly interested in the Tegenaria genus, i have bred a few species aswell.
    Hope this helped

    cheers

I don't know, they are really aggressive here during certain parts of the year.

They also do leave lesions. I and a few others including my mom have been bitten by them and have had small lesions. My mom had hers for over a year, with a bad reaction.

Re: Seriously just about had a heart attack..

Did they *SEE* the spider bite them?
Or did they wake up with a painful wound and assume it's a spider?
The lesions that were caused by a "Hobo" spider are usualy not so at all.
And if any of them WERE indeed Tegenaria agrestis bites, they were a personal reaction.
I have been bitten by this species before, with no lesions what so ever.
Not trying to be a know-it-all or anything, just trying to clear the reptutation for this beautiful species.

    Cheers

    Richard

looks like a common funnel/grass spider. we have a big one that was living in a shrub on the side of our house. i would catch and feed him a cricket every day. cool spider.

They are highly aggressive and venomous/ or is it poisonous for spiders? Not sure lol.

I have been bit before and it literally eats a hole in your flesh. Mine wasn't too bad. I had some swelling, lots of redness and then it blistered and broke open and oozed. I had a hole in my arm for a long time. Now you can barely even see the scar anymore.

I felt like absolute crap for about 2 days, almost like I had the flu, but worse.

Here is a link, they are mostly in the Northwest I think. Experts seem to think they were brought over from Europe through shipping and landed in Seattle, then moved west from there.

I think I would've peed my pants if I were doing the dishes and that guy decided to chill with me. I don't mind spiders, in fact, they're really cool to me, but I'm not very happy about them sneaking up on me.

Glad you're doing okay and that you probably weren't bitten.
