Big water bowl or 2 water bowls or someone to come in and change the water

When I go out of town I clean all the tubs, give fresh water and feed the night before, then check my thermostats, light timers and spot clean the morning that I leave. That's about all you can do.

If you can't have a friend check in, call a professional pet sitter. I would be too worried that something would happen in those 5 days.

Not to hijack the thread but I was wondering the same thing, first 3 day trip planned. I have a petsitter coming in to watch the dogs/cats.
Is having the sitter glance at the temps and confirm there is water enough? I have a thermostat. I do worry she will poop in one of her hides and then not want to use it.

Re: Home Alone Tips?
I use dimmer switches on my UTH and light and although they do a pretty good job at maintaining temps, they are not 100% reliable. maybe you can check with your local herp vet or somebody else about keeping the snake for the time that you are gone. I can't imagine that caring for a snake would be all that expensive. I would be so worried about temps getting too high or dropping too low that I doubt I could enjoy my time away. That's just my 2 cents!

Ask if the sitter has experience with reptiles. If not, you have a wonderful chance to teach them. I am always telling other sitters I network with about this site to help them learn at least the basics.
