Re: A Question about prices
I just took a look at a couple breeders web pages and found 08 female pastels on ballroom pythons south web site for $250. Michael Cole is a great guy to deal with!

Sounds cool. Not sure where Sterling is... and I can't drive so the meet up would have to be here in Denver, but that sounds like a plan.
Will you be at the RMRE Aug 2nd?

Re: A Question about prices
I'm sorry that this isn't relating to your question, but I have one of my own. I remember you talking about having to get rid of one of your snakes to make room for two more of breeding size (Don't know if you ever went through with that or not). I think there was an issue with your significant other putting a limit on the number of snakes you could own.
Are you just using the breeding thing in order to get him to let you have more snakes? Or have you always planned on owning snakes just to breed them?

Re: A Question about prices
I understand your concern and possible confusion.
At first, I was just going to be content with one BP and one corn...but then I saw the different morphs. I fell in love with albinos and bumblebees...but I could NEVER afford to buy one.
I had planned on being 'deprived' and never having those snakes...until that guy handed me my pastel male. Having a morph, especially one half of the genes required for a Bee, made me hope that I might be able to breed for those morphs I really wanted.
When my BF found out that some money could be made with breeding (of course, I let him keep on thinking that), he agreed to let me have more snakes as long as I could breed my own food for them (which I'm doing), could care for them properly, and could keep them from taking over the apt. space wise.
Things have changed a little since I'm building two racks that will very much reduce the space the BPs take up. Understanding genetics a little better, he's allowing me to get up to two more snakes without giving anyone else up. Of course, I've had to raise the money myself...
So, I do want to breed to get the morphs I want most...and I 'use' that breeding 'thing' to talk him into letting me have more snakes. Bit of both.

Keep an eye on what is selling and what isn't at a show. Talk with the sellers and express your interest. Don't waste their time, of course, but if they have something you like, get some face-time with them so they remember you. Towards the end of the day, if what you like is still there, don't be afraid to make a reasonable offer on it. At the end of the day most sellers are more interested in cutting reasonable deals, else they have to lug everything home and care for it until the next show. The worse they can do is say 'no.'
Also, check out what prices various morphs are going for. Is one seller offering pastels for $100 less than another guy? Mention it when making your offer, if you like the second guy's snakes more. It can make a difference.
If you are interested in getting more than one snake from the same breeder, ask if they would do a combo deal. Some are willing to do that!
Lastly, if finances play a large part in your decision to shop around, consider keeping an eye out for rescues. For little-to-no money you may be able to luck-out and find the snake of your dreams, and give it a good home in the process.
I hope that helps!

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.

I will be at the show, wont have a booth but will be wandering around in circles hoping to find something I just cant live without.
Sterling is like an hour and a half northeast of Denver, but it seems like I am up there once a month or so.
