What's the difference between African soft fur rats and normal rats, besides soft fur?

Two different species of rats.
ASF and natal rats are thought to be the missing link between mice and rats, sharing characteristics with both. Many times they are classified as Natal mice, or Mutli mice, but others they are referred to as rats.

Great photo's Amy! I still think ASF babies are about the ugliest little things created but so ugly they are cute LOL. Glad you and Jamie (the smell is you J! ) are enjoying all the rats.

To add to this, asfs are the size of small rats as adults. And take a long time to mature!
